Caveman 2 Cosmos

Should the AI be rushing with slavery enabled to the point where their cities are moving under 6 size? I hardly ever enable slavery myself, for I do not see as much benefit as Some people do, but .. the Israelis, who were keeping pace atleast semi well in my current game now have city sizes of insanely small proportions now. And its not due to criminal scum, I checked.
I've done a lot to minimize their will to do this. They should only be doing it if they sense a real potential to lose their city. Is that what's happening or is it still too loose?

Oh, don't get me wrong. I garnered all of that before hand. It is part of the reason I have so many cats ( and dogs, there's atleast one square that has dogs in that picture! ).. Its just..that % is over 100, and the cats are level 3 at most. So this is a bit op in my opinion... I could seriously take over everything with these things.
Well, it's not something I figured many would really connect the dots on yet. The AI will hopefully be taught to use it as well (relatively) soon. And one major element that's yet to really hit the scene on that is the intended Dynamic Defense promotions. Tower buildings already offer some. Dynamic Defense can quickly tear down the attacker's S&D bonuses.

Even though I know about the ability to do what you're doing, I very rarely ever get the opportunity to pull it off. Plus, setting up a good strong S&D benefit so often puts the units setting it up under tremendous risk, particularly if they are well promoted to be able to do it because said promos don't usually help them in personal combat very well so when they are attacked, it's problematic for them. The AI isn't yet too keen on that factor but it CAN take such potshots if it's got decent defenses to begin with.

This is one of many ways to generate a powerful attack and like any other method, it has its strengths and weaknesses and a keen opponent may be able to divine a way to unravel its power. Just unfortunate that the AI lags in this regard. Of course, it's not the only place the AI lags strategically.

Red cloud ( Israel ) is at war with the Greek, whom only have 1 city. So ... I ..guess they're threatened? Maybe? Meh.

Regarding S&D, I caught onto that when I was using Atlatlists to destroy barbarian cities, then I noticed cats were getting much higher bonuses ( couple with the fact they're invisible! ) and decided to throw in some dogs outside of the city borders and pull them in when the time is right... and wowser that bonus moved up to obscene amounts!
FYI, my game is set on Emperor. I was behind most of the game until my tracker success rate turned the game drastically in my favor.

Edit:
WTH: I just got shamanism in a city? I thought it didn't spread? I don't think the AI would randomly give me a religion?

All religions spread, especially to cities without any religion but also to ones that do if you have "multiple religion spread" option on.

Also if a religion is your leader's favorite religion then it will spread to your capital when it is founded.

Thank you for informing me of that..but I thought certain religions didn't have any spread whatsoever. Like Shamanism, Druidism, Yoruba, etc, and could only spread through missionaries.

The Key is having Multiple Religion Spread On in BUG. Or Off.

Multiple Religion spread is off. Granted the city itself had no religion at the time as I have not been religion spamming..

Spamming is not a nice word. And our Options provide choices, all of which many players and modders have differences of opinions on. You don't use it but I do. And it's one of my preferred ways of play for using religions in the game. Apparently it is not for you. But we both have Options here.

Hey, I need help with running the mod here. I don't know if this is to do with my hardware (though I really doubt it) but when I try to run Caveman2Cosmos it only gets to the config stage before the game just shuts down, with no error or message, it just disappears. The computer is able to run normal BtS with no issues and quite well, but when I try to play Caveman2Cosmos it doesn't work at all. Any tips?

Sounds like you haven't installed v3.19 yet.

The use of it was not meant to be. Researching more than one religion specifically to deny the AI religions that it could use is too gamey in my opinion. I haven't researched one of the six or seven religions established this game ( the first three I had no chance to, the AI got to them first ). Which is why I was surprised to have religion spread into my borders at all.

Again Shoobs we provide Options to support your gaming choices and opinions. We all do not play the same. Your way of playing is neither better nor worse than someone elses. And opinions are just that, opinions.

I don't think you understand when I made the statement I did. It is not the option I was commenting about. The option was only brought up because I was surprised at the fact shamanism spread at all, let alone overseas to an empire that had zero religion whatsoever. I understand that religion can spread that way, I was under the impression that shamanism did not spread due to early religions having very low to zero ability to spread at all without missions.

DH may be able to clarify that.

@T-brd,
I think DH already did.

I have. Just in case it matters, I will mention that it is Civ4 Complete and that I patched it from the internet, from some archive. I am certain that it was the actual patch as the game would not run on my computer (Windows 7) until I got the patch. Any other possibilities?

How long did you wait? While the Pop up initialization box may disappear, the Mod is still loading. And 1st time load can take as long as 10 minutes depending upon speed of processor/CPU, main ram speed and Graphics card. Big Mod and lots of data to set up.

Subsequent loads will Not take as long. ;)

Might be a corrupt download. I strongly urge you to install via the SVN anyhow.

Civ 4 just shuts down completely. I waited for 2 hours the first time. I could hear the fan working in there but nothing was showing up. I looked in Task Manager, there was no program apart from the normal background ones taking up CPU (apparently, like I said, I could hear the fan working in there). I can load up the mod, but when I try to play it the game just goes.

I mean you may have a bad download. Sometimes the data doesn't transfer correctly. The SVN is our version control system and if you get the mod from that you'll be able to update it at any time and get our fixes when needed. There's a thread for SVN discussions on the main C2C portion of the forum here, stickied. The first post explains how to install the mod with TortoiseSVN.
