I've done a lot to minimize their will to do this. They should only be doing it if they sense a real potential to lose their city. Is that what's happening or is it still too loose?Should the AI be rushing with slavery enabled to the point where their cities are moving under 6 size? I hardly ever enable slavery myself, for I do not see as much benefit as Some people do, but .. the Israelis, who were keeping pace atleast semi well in my current game now have city sizes of insanely small proportions now. And its not due to criminal scum, I checked.
Well, it's not something I figured many would really connect the dots on yet. The AI will hopefully be taught to use it as well (relatively) soon. And one major element that's yet to really hit the scene on that is the intended Dynamic Defense promotions. Tower buildings already offer some. Dynamic Defense can quickly tear down the attacker's S&D bonuses.Oh, don't get me wrong. I garnered all of that before hand. It is part of the reason I have so many cats ( and dogs, there's atleast one square that has dogs in that picture! ).. Its just..that % is over 100, and the cats are level 3 at most. So this is a bit op in my opinion... I could seriously take over everything with these things.
Even though I know about the ability to do what you're doing, I very rarely ever get the opportunity to pull it off. Plus, setting up a good strong S&D benefit so often puts the units setting it up under tremendous risk, particularly if they are well promoted to be able to do it because said promos don't usually help them in personal combat very well so when they are attacked, it's problematic for them. The AI isn't yet too keen on that factor but it CAN take such potshots if it's got decent defenses to begin with.
This is one of many ways to generate a powerful attack and like any other method, it has its strengths and weaknesses and a keen opponent may be able to divine a way to unravel its power. Just unfortunate that the AI lags in this regard. Of course, it's not the only place the AI lags strategically.
