CFC Model UN - Security Council Simulation

First of all the Democratic Peoples Republic of North Korea would like to take the opportunity of being here to congratulate Mexico on taking the presidency for the month of April.

Our presence here alone should prove imperialistic propaganda totally wrong. The fact, that we agreed to discuss our nuclear program here within the United Nations, shows very well our desire to find a peaceful alternative to the blatant U.S. aggression. Our Communist brothers in the People's Republic of China convinced us a discussion in this Council would stop our country falling prey to U.S. fascist aggression like the Republic of Iraq fell prey to the USA.

The fact, that North Korea funds a civilian nuclear program in order to make us independent from the U.S. and other imperialistic oil suppliers,is no reason of concern to anyone. In contrary to what U.S. officials state,North Korea is a peacful country, not seeking to attack anyone, however we're fully willing and capable of defending ourselves. If you talk about aggression, look at the American fascist over there [points at U.S. ambassador],who in this very meeting threatened Syria with war,as it does not blindly want to accept the American "New World Order".

North Korea leaving the International Non-Atomic Weapons Treaty and expulsing the IAEA inspectors was forced upon us by the USA,as it was the only way to prevent CIA agents under international cloak entering our country and destablizing it.This is even more hypocrite as the Zionist entity,a U.S. lackey, never even signed this treaty and the USA are right now blocking efforts of a controlling regime of the Biological and Chemical Weapons convention. Therefore there is absolutely no need for inspectors on our peaceful nuclear program.

While other U.S. lackeys like Chile and the United Kingdom spread false propaganda here,I encourage all true-peace loving countries within the Council to stop U.S. aggression right here and not to hear on the Imperialists Bush and Blair.N.Korea will continue its peacful nuclear program, and this will bring stability to the Korean peninsula,East Asia and the whole world.

The United States has requested a right of reply and it has been granted.

The chair recognizes the United States as the next speaker.

I saw THAT one coming!

Thanks, Toasty - I originally wanted to post directly or ask on the thread for a right of reply, but decided to PM instead.

The wanting to go to the UN is a blatent wanting of blackmail. The "peaceful" altertative DPRK talks about is false. Cutting off IAEA cameras, expelling inspectors, restarting its nuclear program, and unfreezing the locks on their nuclear plutonium rods is anything but peaceful - they want to get the U.S to settle for a quick negioation.

To decrease their reliance on U.S imports by staring up their nuclear plants is lunacy. The plant, only a five-megawatt plant, is not enough to supply the needs of DPR Korea. It is to start the making of nucear bombs and devices, and perhaps trade uranium for oil, as it is a necessity to the DPRK.

If DPR Korea can prove that it is a responsible nation that will not sell or export uranium for basic neccessities, smuggle bombs to terroists, or any kind of other activity like the mentioning above, the U.S will ease its hardline stance on this issue. But the irresponsiblity of DPR Korea in breaking the treaty and other evidence has proven to the world that the DPRK cannot be trusted with these weapons.

Sorry folks, I'm WAY too busy to speak right now.

Mexico yields its time to the delegate of the UK.

Two more hours left 'till the UK's time is up...

LOL! Yielding...our committee format had 6 for/6 against speakers on a resolution. Speeches were 2 min. and you could yield to questions, the chair, or other delegates...hardly anyone yielded. Maybe six to seven times in a six-hour conference.

Actually, since Toasty never said that he was skipping his turn, Dexter has two days from Toasty's last post.

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

The United Kingdom believes that for a peaceful end to come to this problem it will need big changes in policy from the DPRK. This will require the governments of China, South Korea and Japan to open discussion to persuade the North Koreans to abandon their current policy of isolation.

The Government of the United Kingdom respects North Korea's sovereignty therefore we can not accept the idea that the DPRK is under threat from any other nation. Therefore there is no need for the DPRK to build nuclear weapons. The DPRK is seeking to black-mail the inernational community and must be persuaded into co-operateing with the rest of the world instead of trying to isolate itself.

We fully support bi-lateral talks between the DPRK and the USA where both nations can discuss ways of settling their differences and resolving this issue. We also fully support the DPRK's involvement in these discussions taking place at the UN.

North Korea must co-operate with the International Community and must be prepared to resolve this issue peacefully.

Sorry guys but the delegate for Spain is going to step down - work is taking over real life. :(

Please give my seat to someone else and thanks for understanding.

Insurgent can have Spain if he wants, then.

Okay, guys, there have been 6 (!) people who have shown interest who are not involved (NOT including insurgent, since he will be the new delegate for Spain). Do we want to double up on some teams or do I simply have to turn them down?

Send them a PM asking them whether they will really commit to this and if they want to follow through. If they say no and want to step down, give the postition to something else. If they say 'maybe', give them forty-eight answers to make a decision: yes or no.

I say keep them where they are, but send them as replacements. I have the feeling there will be some dropouts soon...

BTW,will presidency skip over now in the new month?
