I have one question, and one question only:

Why?

Hmm. Mostly because the OT is so ever-changing. Feel free not to use it, though ;)

somone should put up an article with theories on why there are so many "ask a...." threads.....

There was none of these a couple years ago that I can remember.

Centurion, just register ;) I'm working right now, but it's bedtime soon for me.

IIRC, betazed made a very nice thread about economics. It was around this time that JerichoHill came around. He posted in it and mentioned that he is a professional economist. betazed displayed exuberance and the "Ask an Economist" thread was born, which I believe was the first. Why did it become a trend? Like any trend, I can't say for sure, but my experience is that people like to share what they've learned so it caught on.

Now that 'ask a...' threads are limited, perhaps someone should start an 'answer a...' thread.

I can see two possibilities:

1.) Everyone ignores this and it never takes off.
2.) This turns into a total nightmare.

I vote for the first option.

I think the CFC wiki page was shut down a few months ago.
Nope, they tried and failed!

I'll probably do some stuff when Azash gets the categories and stuff figured out.

And the point of this is?

Well, guess whose page hasn't been deleted .

Nah. CFC made it through with a "no consensus" (Because you did not show proof that CFC was notable outside of its membership, and membership of a forum is not criteria for notability on a forum) while Apolyton was kept outright. The difference is that Apolyton managed to show that it was notable - members of the forums becoming members of Firaxis, intimate relationship with Firaxis (beta testers, et cetera, more than CFC IIRC) and with the CTP2 source code and the like. CFC only showed that a mod on their forums became a standard part of Civ4, as well as Soren's article (which gives just as much props to Apolyton as it does to CFC. Actually, more, since he found his job in Firaxis through Apolyton.) :p
