Steam is working fine for me.

Try deleting the ClientRegistry.blob file in your Steam folder, it should work.

nope that didn't work. Still get a update window that then goes on to say steam is temporaryl unaviable try again later nonsense. If I skip opening steam and try to load up a steam game straight from its own .exe/app I get some Steam Error window that says application load error and a bunch of numbers

Huh, that should have worked. I suggest trying the steam help stuff on VALVe's website then :/

Looks like a lot of people are having what seems to be the same problem but each person's problem can be solved with a different solution.

I really don't want to reinstall Steam

Copy your steamapps folder to somewhere safe (Its in the steam install directory), wipe the whole install, install fresh, copy your steamapps folder back. Bam, Steam reinstalled with all games back.

I crafted two hats together and I got the football helmet for the Heavy.

I ALREADY HAVE THE F***ING USHANKA.

I also have the Bonk hat for scout, the Killer's Kabuto for Soldier, and the glove for the pyro. I still want the Demoman's Tricord, Spy's Fedora, and any medic hat.

Unlucky . I heard of trading - any idea when that's going ahead, or if it's already in operation? You might be able to trade it for one of those you want. I too want a medic hat - I think I'll make that my next goal.

I already have the Spy's Fedora, it was the first hat I crafted, and only days later they reduced the crafting costs so that you only need 2 weapons to make scrap metal rather than 3 .

My 2nd hat was the engineer's Texas Slim's Dome Shine which I promptly crafted with my spy's camera beard to get the Engineer's Cap, which to me is a real hat.

Saving up to craft my third. I'm yet to be lucky and get a hat on a random drop though (not counting the Ghastly Gibbus of course)... :/
