Changing icons?

I've noticed over the last few days a strange thing happening on my desktop... certain icons on my desktop are changing... The entire TYPE is changing.. For instance it seems that the icon usually used for "dial up networking" has changed to something else... as well as the one used for PDF's.

But wait.. they just changed back to normal (without rebooting). Anybody ever heard of this? It's freaking me out

Windows 98... ummmm I know that thingie. It is not something that comes incorporated inside a funny beige box and when you start it gives back always intimidating messages as "Your skdiet.dll is missing, your are going to crash"?

Sorry, not int he best mood. My question is: do you know what is the reason tat caused it? My girlfriend runs W98 (I am a Mac-man)... and I play multiplayer on it

Thanks in advance (and again excuses)

What you could do is download TweakUI and rebuild the system icons. I don't know if it will work

but it's worth a shot.

Aristonico any idea what program may be causing it? Does the box have a title? Have you installed/uninstalled any programs recently?

Well a reboot always fixes the problem.. it doesn't appear to be serious... and it's only happened twice. But the first time was on;y recently and I've been running this install for over a year.. So it wories me a bit. I think i need a good virus program .
