Charleston anyone?

I always thought that the Charleston was a dance that went along with jazz from the 20's.

1922: a year you might have seen Al Capone, dancing the charleston on top of a flagpole....!

Well Che, dance = music. What I'm looking for is something tangible, i.e. artist names etc.

;)

Yes, dance does need music, but I don't think there's a music style called 'ballet' for eg....

Look up Dixieland jazz and swing jazz, I think that's good charleston'ing music...

Wasn't the Harlem Globetrotters' theme music a classic piece of Charleston too?

Sweet Georiga Brown, IIRC, and I think that's considered swing....

-Jack Hylton
-Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians
"Bojangles" Robinson, more in the tap-dancing side, but still very good music.

Oh yeah!? Not my understanding of slide, but I'll let it swing.

Wait a minute, switch that. :)

Great house remix of the Charleston sound...

The original was. The whistling knuckle-cracking one the the H-GT's use is probably considered something else. It's been too long since I took a jazz course to remember...!

Damn you all, now the Harlem Globetrotters music is going to be trapped in my head for the next few days. It'll be the last thing I hear before falling asleep, and the first thing I hear when I wake up:mad:

Sing 'happy birthday' or 'twinkle twinkle' 5 times in successsion and you'll forget it no problem....
