Chrysalis series

Looking good so far, I love the Metro.

Thanks :)

I am considering having two layouts, one for high-architecture civs, and one for barbarian/low-architecture, cause otherwise the sets will present a number of old issues...

The high-architecture will be the one shown in the greek set, but the celtic will be re-arranged a bit.

What do you think of this idea?

Makes sense.

In my epic mod I am playing with an idea to get more variation in cities and also to represent "Civilized" nations and "Barbarian" nations.

What I will have is that cities level 1 and level 2 will look like less urbanized "Barbarian" cities whereas cities level 3 and level 1 with a wall with look like urbanized "Civilized" cities. This requires that the uncivilized nations will only have level 1 cities although their capital will look like the level 2 city which will just be a bit larger and they will not be able to build walls at all. The urbanized nations will get a wonder in their capital that allows it to progress to level 2 but it will look like level 3 while their other cities will stay level 1 but will be able to build walls and the graphics will change to an urbanized city.

A complicated system with lots of drawbacks but might allow for 10 city graphics instead of 5. In the fourth era I plan to revert to just 5 sets and allow all civs to progress to level 3. I haven't fully tested this yet and one thing to do is make sure that cities can't grow beyond level 1 even if they are beside fresh water except in the case of the "Civilized" nations capital city. This can be achieved with the right terrain settings and number of citizens for the level one I think but I have not yet tested it.

Sorry that was a bit off topic but kind of related to your comment.

Some progress, still long way to go:

I prefer this one (Celtic towns), the roofs look better than the brownish ones.

kyriakos, can you create a parthian or greko-bactrian concept with a mix of oriental and greek style to serve for enlarging the geographical area already mentioned by balam with his units? it could be an interesting thing to do! :cooool:

Thanks, although it is not yet completed, and i doubt the 6th building in the metro can be kept given the size #2 has just 1 new special building. But we will see...

Like all of your cities, these are wonderful Kyriakos. I can't wait to have those Celtic towns; I've always used your various ancient Germanic cities for European civs in ancient scenarios, but the Celtic towns fill a spot that really hits my ocd tendencies for historical realism. Once again you've waaaay outdone the original firaxis art; I can't imagine going back to that.

Not sure when it will be released, cause i will have to rework it, also due to the reason that i am making these as showpieces for a sort of seminar i am presenting this October in a local library, so i would like to keep the buildings as distinct and presentable as possible.

So i will likely enlarge some of the buildings, and have larger 'regular' houses. We shall see... I need euros, what can one do? ;)

(ps: the following is obviously just a test, lighting, texture and most of everything else is not worked on:
