General:
This is a NOTW style game, based on The Tower of Cirith Ungol, the first chapter in Lord of the rings, The Return of the King, the third book of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. If you are not familiar with the story, the following link from the LOTR wiki is useful: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Tower_of_Cirith_Ungol . However, knowledge of the backstory is not necessary for the NOTW and I have occasionally departed from it for game balance purposes. I would prefer to have 20 players, though I can live with a few less or more, as long as its an even number. The players will be distributed into the Cirith Ungol and Minas Morgul orc factions. Two of the players will be chosen to be Frodo and Sam, the hobbit mafia.
Prelude (Partially borrowed from NOTW XLV The DOOM PROJECT):
-- The most important rule of all: have fun!
-- Plot mechanics, or “fluff”, will never be representative of player alignment. I will usually be brief in write-ups to avoid revealing anything that is supposed to be unknown.
-- Please be active and contribute to the game.
-- There may by certain situations where the outcome of a Day or Night does not resolve as you predict. Please PM me if you feel there has been an error in resolution, but be forewarned that most of you will not know all of the mechanics and strange things may occur on purpose.
-- I, as the mod, will merely interpret player actions as well as provide dialogue and narration about certain plot experiences. I do not control any factions in this game, nor do I determine when and how the game resolves.
-- Players may create Quick Topics, so long as they forward me the link of the topic they create.
-- I reserve the right to WoG or replace players as necessary. I will only use this procedure as a last resort.
Battle/Lynch: Day phase lasts 48 hours. Every day, both orc factions must vote for someone to lynch from their faction and someone to go to battle with the other orc faction. The player with the lower strength (a stat that will be assigned in every role PM, and is only important to the outcomes of day battles) in the battle loses. If it is a tie (strength is equal), I will RNG. vote: No lynch is allowed, but there must be a battle every turn so vote: no battle is not. A lynch is always effective at killing its target, but there may be situations in which no one dies as a result of a battle. Beware that if there is a tie in voting (for lynch or item, but not battler), the tied players will battle to the death, in the same way as the main battle is handled. If there is a tie in voting for the battle, the battler from the other team chooses their opponent. If it is an item vote that is tied, the winner of this battle gets the item. If a lynch vote is tied, the winner survives. You may abstain on all votes except the battle vote.
Rules Clarification: You vote for a lynch from one of your own orc faction, and you vote for a combatant from your own orc faction. Hence both factions will nominate a combatant, and both factions will lynch from amongst themselves (or no lynch).
Items: There are several objects in the hands of various players that affect their stats and gameplay. When a player carrying one of these items is nightkilled, their killer will usually get the item. These items can be traded if both players send me a PM, or confirm the trade in a shared quicktopic. Additionally, it may be announced at the beginning of the turn that the winner of today’s battle will get an item, the details of which will be specified in the write up. For example, the winner of the battle on turn one will get the mithril shirt. There are also situations where a faction may vote on who gets an item. Items can be dropped by their wielders at will, in which case their faction will vote on who carries it next turn.
Night:
Night lasts for 24 hours. Night actions are done at this time.
Victory:
Everyone gets a final victory percentage as following:
75% faction objective
15% personal objective (for one man factions this is ignored. These points are added to survival instead)
10% Survival.
Factions:
Cirith Ungol Orcs:
Major Victory: (all 75% of faction goal)
Eliminate Morgul Orcs
Own the Ring
Eliminate Hobbits
Minor Victory (50%)
Own the Ring
Eliminate Hobbits
Draw: (25%)
Eliminate Hobbits
Have at least one surviving member in the end
OR:
 Control the Ring
 Have at least one surviving member at the end
Minor Defeat (10%):
Eliminate Hobbits
Minas Morgul Orcs:
Same as above with Morgul and Ungol reversed
The game ends when the hobbits win or are eliminated, at which point, percentages are given out.
The Dead:
The dead cannot speak. You can make one meaningless post, but you cannot say anything pertaining to the game.
