CityIOT

Jumped the gun a bit, mate.

Ah, whatever, I was about to declare them open, anyways.

All players may campaign for one of six positions - Mayor, and 5 seats upon the city council.

If you haven't yet completely filled out your information, you won't know how much money you have to spend. I'd advise fixing that.

In addition, I'd advise you all to keep in mind that NNN is the only media outlet, so you'll need to go through Murdock if you want to campaign via anything besides word-of-mouth.

Funds and information will be posted shortly.

The NNN is available to anyone who wishes to run for the position of a city councilman. Prices to be determined individually. Anyone wishing to use NNN to run for mayor is out of luck.

I would point out that there is a radio station in the southern Curtiss building.

Ah, I will edit your Business description to include Media. This means people can ask for you to run advertisements for their campaigns for them. However Mine is still a Media Empire :king: With a Huge Radio station with many channels, Televisions Channels and the Newspapers and tabloids.

It does mean you are the only other option for media I believe.

The Machina Syndicate would like to announce their full support of John Murdock for mayor.

Nick McMullan made a speech today outside of the Wild Stallion Shopping Center.

"Greetings fellow shop owners and workers! It is good to see that at least some people within Metro City still support an honest day's work!

Unfortunately, as many of you surely know, the city has fallen on hard times. The mayor has ruined this city with his delusional economic policies. He has allowed large criminal syndicates to grow throughout the city, poisoning our way of life. Worst of all, he has allowed the Red Menace to spread it's hateful propaganda to our children, corrupting them into believing that we should tear down what little of a society we have left in this city.

Well I, and every good natured person in this city who has built up their livelihoods with their hands and minds, are sick of this! We are sick of the Mayor making it impossible to export or import goods outside of the Metro region! We are sick of the lazy arse criminals making money by threatening our neighbours and our friends! And we are sick of the communist cult trying to corrupt our children's dreams and future! Today, we are going to make a stand!

Today I announce my intent to make a run for the council! I, Nick McMullan, leader of the Merchant's Guild of Metro, will keep the bastards honest! When I am elected to become a councilman, I will stamp out corruption! I will change the insane economic policies that are ruining our economy! I will chase the gangs off the streets! I will stop the Communists from spreading their poisonous lies throughout the city! And most of all, I will ensure that the honest worker and business owner will be able to keep their hard earned cash without having to worry about protection rackets or councilmen trying to raise their taxes to buy a new yacht!

I would also like to endorse John Murdoch for the position of mayor! He is an honest business owner who has never used his media enterprises for any illegitimate means, unlike other mayoral candidates I could name. I also would like to send an invitation to join the MGM, as I believe that would be a smart business move that would benefit us both. I would also like to request to use his media outlets for advertisement, and we will accept any reasonable price that you would offer for use of your media outlets.

So my fellow workers and business owners, when you go to the booth on election day, remember to vote Murdoch and McMullan! Together we will change the city!"

*McMullan and the crowd start chanting this phrase, which is planned to become the catchphrase of McMullan's campaign*

Help the honest man,
Do the best he can,
Don't just sit there and be sullen,
Vote Murdoch and McMullan!

TL;DR: Nick McMullan is running for Councilman and endorses John Murdoch for the position of mayor. Also, McMullan would like to use Murdoch's media outlets for advertising and would also like to invite his business to join MGM.

Not yet placed, but it will be on the small block near RC's uni.
I'll be posting the char sheets later (after I get some RL stuff out of the way, but still tonight)

John Smith would like to run for a city council position.

NNN agrees to help promote The Movement, The Machina Syndicate and The Merchant's Guild of Metro.

It is currently negotiating a security deal with the Syndicate to help protect it's media empire in these trying times. The Owner and Head of NNN had this to say;

"I will not be joining any individual political movement or guild, I am running on a Neutral position as a man of the people, I hope you will choose to support me as I am without asking me to swear allegiance to a individual ideal. I support Nick McMullan in his bid for a council position as a neutral business man himself. I also support John Smith in his council man position, as although we differ on some issues he is willing to stand up for a large portion of the population. I myself will be pushing for more power for the common people to be able to resist the criminal underworld and the rich elitism."

Advertisement prices for all candidates will be released soon.

Name: Samuel Calhoun

Money: 40K

Bio: Sam Calhoun is an interesting fellow. He was an orphan, who lived on the streets, and got by without joining a gang until he was 9. He then joined up with a gang in the neighborhood he had lurked in his whole life. What the Gang didn't count on was how ruthless he would become, and how cunning as well, taking over the gang by 18, and quickly using extortion and robbery profits to fund a new newspaper in the city to put a nice face on his gang, which was more like a unit of professional crime soon after that. He rose through the ranks and publicly disassociated himself from the gang, although there are rumors he still controls it. But it shouldn't matter. He's rich, and he controls a media empire that has its tentacles in every city of this geographical region, although he only controls the segment of it here in Metro City directly, and he's looking to expand into more than simply media.

Organization: Calhoun Enterprises

Calhoun Enterprises is primarily a media empire, the only real competition to the NNN in Metro. Its roots are in the Newspaper Industry, which boasts the largest circulation in Metro thanks to its mass of printers and delivery trucks. But its true wealth is in TV where it owns a Network as big, if not bigger, than the MEM. It does indeed lack a Radio Station at the moment however, and that is a glaring hole in its media coverage.

Home:

He lives in a mansion on the edges of the city, where he often holds charity events.

Buildings:

The HQ of The City Investigator, the newspaper. Holds row after row of presses and printers for the paper, as well as a distribution plant and the offices in which the newspapers editors and reporters work.

A Forward Operating Base of The Inquirer and The City Investigator, where all the news and information gathered from the south side of the city is gathered, consolidated, and then sent to Calhoun Tower for processing.

Calhoun Tower. A massive skyscraper that takes up an enormous amount of space, and holds 160 floors to boot. By far, the largest and tallest building in Metro City. It acts as Overall HQ for all of Calhoun Enterprises, as well as The Inquirer, the TV News Network in the Company. The Studio itself is here as well as a large portion of the actual work that goes on the show.

CALHOUN RUNS AGAINST MURDOCH FOR MAYOR

"As Metro City goes downhill, they look for a leader. Some believe in Murdoch. But they do not know the truth."

"As you see endorsements for Murdoch flow, what you don't know is that many endorse him so that he will run their ads for their own candidacies. What you don't know is that he is under FBI investigation for invading YOUR privacy in order to make news headlines. And what you don't know about him is he isn't a champion of the working class; he was born into Old Money!"

"Now you can see where I am going with this, but you don't know me. Not many do, although you should probably know I own a Media Empire like Murdoch himself. What you should also know is that I hold a virtually limitless stream of events for charity at my home on the riverfront. What you might not know, is that once I was an orphan living off the streets, like so many people today. But I rose. I made a name for myself. And thats what I want to foster in this great city; the chance to make a name for yourself! The chance to rise through the economic classes! I am neither pro working class, nor pro rich, nor even pro middle class. I am pro opportunity. I am pro rights. I strive for that end, as all men are created equal, but that does not mean every man deserves to be equal. Men are deserving through hard work, skill, talent, persistence, and any number of other honorable attributes one might exhibit."

"And so now, I must ask you to vote for me as I run for Mayor on my own platform. No more will you languish under taxes you cannot pay! No more will Murdoch violate your rights to privacy! No more shall you languish under a burden, suffering through a dark age in this city. The Light has come, Ladies and Gentlemen, citizens of Metro City. Vote Calhoun!"

Nicholas di Ancona announces his run for City Council.

D4etH.png

"My fellow citizens. I believe that the time of discrimination against Italians is over, and that we can now freely run for office! I will battle crime in this fine city! I say that we kick the bums out of our lands, and allow freedom to reign once again!"

Posters are put outside every room in the Southern Apartments, and the residents are encouraged to vote for di Ancona. The same practice is applied to much of the South side of the city, with fliers and posters put up.

Red Eagle University

Staff: Prominent and intelligent party members teach at the university. While spreading the ideals of the Party, standard university courses are available of course. Most party members teach for little pay - they are more excited and enthusiastic to teach and spread the Party's influence.

Who can apply: The university accepts all applicants, regardless of views (given they pass the entrance exams of course). The bias in the University isn't publicly advertised, but it's there nonetheless. Think of it as a standard conservative or liberal slant university - the professor's bias is there, but it's not waved around.

What's taught: The University has a wide variety of courses, but it also boasts a special program. All Party members (party members can be of any age, by the way) may join the program. It consists of various physical fitness courses, combat training, weapons training, and problem solving exercises. Even for non Party members, the Red Eagle University has a large sports program.

How much does it cost: The university is geared towards lower-upper middle class families. It doesn't have the comforts of a university for the wealthy, but it isn't falling apart. (Financial aid is available for Party members, of course).

Yourself: Robert McMillan. Rober McMillan is a pastor for the First Baptist Church Of Metro City. Early in his life he took it upon himself to help improve the lives of the citizens in the city, building a homeless shelter and restaurant to help house and feed the local people. However, some would say he took unsavoury actions to help the people. Rumours have gone around saying he armed his most fanatical supporters and told them, "Defend their lives, at any cost."

Money: 20,000

Your organization: While people are unsure of how this group is connected to the Pastor, the existence of The Metrorian Crusaders is undeniable. This vigilante group takes to the street and defends the people of Metro City, often at extreme cost.

Your Home: Labelled RSH on the map.

Your Buildings:

  • C: The First Baptist Church of Metro City. It is a fairly large church, and serves as the HQ for the Metronian Crusaders.
  • HS: A homeless shelter. Established by Robert McMillan ten years ago, it serves to house the homeless population of this part of Metro City.
  • RA: RM Radio. A small radio provider that is used by the church to spread news, play music, and inform members of church-related activities.
  • RS: Robert's Kitchen. A small restaurant that offers low prices for its many dishes. Serves as the primary source pf income of the church along with the donations to it.

The Triumph Movement's First Rally

2mmtfsk.jpg

When John Smith announced his run for City Council, a rally was organized. It began with a scheduled meeting at the Rally Center, where thousands showed up. John Smith's booming voice was heard on the intercom, and the people cheered. One by one, prominent Party Members went up and gave riveting speeches, causing hysterical cheering and shouting. After a few of these speeches, the Movement left the center and marched down the streets, attracting more followers and attention as they went.

Posters were posted, people were informed, and there was much celebrating.

With the exceptions of those who have not made complete posts - Nedim, Ghostwriter, Terran Emperor, and Double A - all numbers have been generated. Keep in mind that they do not represent any events of the election, and are subject to change based upon player interaction and NPC reaction.

Now, if I can figure out how to upload them...
