hello guys. i got one real nasty problem maybe you could help me. my pc several time exceeds game requirements but sometimes(half of the time) i do experience a freeze(sometimes a minute or few sometimes secs) after trying to communicate with other nation or if they communicate with me. any suggestions? btw i am playing latest bts patch

My Core i7 does that ... from time to time ... I think it has stopped ... when in actual fact on of the processor core is running at 100% ... I usually just wait it out.
try to set hidemoviebackground from 0 to 1 in the civilizationIV.ini
could you tell me what does this change do?
it does what it says - that is in movies (and the diplo screen) it will remove the view of the underlying map and instead give a black background - but its a common reason for lag in the diplo screen since the game doesn't play nice with all graphics cards in this respect...
