I see no need to preorder anything. It's always available when you go in, how often have you been some place and they were sold out? If they are go to the next store or wait two weeks. I'd rather see them put effort into producing a quality product then rushing something and putting out crap. I'd rather wait for a delayed product in anticipation then for a delayed patch in frustration!!!!

hey regardless i did pre-ordered the game...just cuz i had the money, and don't want to be scrapping the money up down the road ...only reason....well but i agree i rather have to wait for the product, and know it will be awsome, then some it come out early and be crappy...but then again it could come out be early and be awsome...which i highly doubt....but regardless there is a lot of good games coming out before this like...direct action:act of war, battlefield 2, ghost recon 2 for pc, driver 3 for pc, empire earth 2...so those should keep me busy till the end of the year when CIV 4 REALLY COMES OUT.....

I will be employing my usual tactic with a new game.

I will wait for the second patch to come out before I buy, after you guys have Beta tested it for them.
So I guess it will be late 2006 for me.

i guess only there is 2 type of people here. The first type is hardcore fans who will want to get hands on the game asap, like they day it comes out. The second are the people who are not that excited and will but it when they know the game is good..

I think that you are getting confused between HardCore and Sensible. Iwould love to have the game the minute it comes out BUT I would much rather wait until it is tried abit. Occasionally features (bugs) can really ruin things

i say wait play civ 4 when it comes out...even through is buggy....make a list of bugs in the game, send it the developers...they develop patch...download patch...play civ 4 now without the bugs (or less bugs)

Winter 2005 is the release date in the latest Game Informer magazine.

Probably a lot closer to that than June 1st heh

i dont know why every ones all bummed its coming out early? thats awesome!!! even if it does have bugs, civ3 had bugs too! they'll fix 'em and come out with expansions and such.

My point: an premature civ4 is better than none

i have to agree...and they will be probaly an expansiion pack or some patched which will come put earlier..but i have a ffeling ebgames release date is wrong..if not...i call in sick that day
