I was wondering about the reintroduction of council. . . is the new council the same or similar with high council in civII? where you cud have sort of meeting with the councils and view them all. asking their opinion individually regarding the current state of your empire. Or the new council is just like the CivIV tutorial.

has Siam and Persia been confirmed to CIV V yet? The reason I asked is because at WEPLACIV they have those two on the roster.

The author of the article/blog responded to the news report and said the translation is correct, but in Italian they call the entire Thai peninsula Siam. So it could mean that "Siamese Elephants" is in fact one of a number of Civs who controlled the peninsula through history.

There already was flavors in Civ4, Gold, Production, Research, etc. They were used by the AI to decide which building to build, which unit to train, which tech to research. It seems they have expanded the system in Civ5 but it's not like it's really new.

I just thought of it; did anyone actually say there will be only 18 civs or we just automatically assumed that?

So judging from that clarification on future units, are Giant Death Robots confirmed? :mischief:

At the moment no their not, Until we have more info or a confirmation I'll be keeping them off

I'm still of the belief that the Incas aren't actually in the game. They've only been in one other version of Civ besides Civ4, and that was as the very last expansion pack to Civ3. Their leader still hasn't been confirmed. Plus, our only proof if that a Swedish magazine said Firaxis had to resurrect a dead language, and claimed it was Quechua. Well, Quechua isn't dead.

However, if all leaders speak their tongue, right down to Oda speaking medieval Japanese, then Montezuma would have to speak Nahuatl, which is a lot more dead language than Quechua. It is still spoken, but by much less people in a much different version. Kind of like how there's a part of Switzerland here that speaks Latin, but it's not really Latin anymore.

So either Firaxis had to revive two dead languages, one of which isn't really dead, or more likely the translation or magazine was wrong, and the language they were referring to was Nahuatl.

Really, I'd say we still have 2 unconfirmed leaders/civilizations. :undecide:

My money is on Persia & the Vikings.

Is Nahuatl that dead? IIRC, it has more than 1 million speakers, which isn't nearly dead.

Classic Nahuatl, the language Monty spoke, is dead and to be honest, no one knows really how it was. I agree with legio that the quechua resurrection talk would fit far better in Nahuatl terms... but they said quechua ( that needs as much ressurection as latin  ) so until further notice, we are talking of the Inca in there

Ah, yeah. Classic Nahuatl. But Nahuatl as of today is not dead.

Anyway, I'm eager to see that clarified, that's really a confusing matter

As the OP considers the trailer a proof of the pyramid wonder then the same trailer would indeed confirm vikings as well. Personally I'm not so sure though.

It turned out to be Bismark. (Off-Topic: WHOA! rpv, you've been here since 2003 and you only have 4 posts?)
