Civ design challenge

My take on this challenge. Seems this group of people have been gaining some spotlight lately.

The Dayaks
Leader: Pangkalima
UA: Mangkok Merah
At the start of the :c5war:War, all combat units within a city border gain 1+:c5moves: movement points, and Melee units now gain "Tariu" promotions, which enables them to gain 5% :c5strength:combat bonus per past killed units that once had been trained in that city (Max 35%). If some of those killed units had promotion that the current army doesn't have, those promotion are inherited to random melee units*. Religious building in conquered cities won't be destroyed.

UB: Huma Betang
Courthouse replacement that is buildable in all cities. Hass less maintenance (2-:c5gold:)and generate 2:c5faith: for each religion in the city. Huma Betang are cheaper to built in cities that you founded and gave them 10% discount when training land units.

UU:Panglima
Replaces Great General whose acquisition are sped up when your units are killed in battle. Durign :c5war:wartime, Panglimas are able to transfer between cities, and units adjacent to them gain "Ngayau" promotion, giving them the ability to inflict heavy damage to fleeing or fortified enemies.

*however, those inherited promotions are only given to one unit at a time. For example, in previous war you lost a Warrior with Drill 1, and now you have 2 Swordsman and a Spearman. All of those units gain 5% combat bonus, but through sheer luck, only the Spearman gain Drill 1.

Design reasoning and historical background are in the spoilers here
Spoiler :
Mangkok Merah, (Red Bowl) was named after the eponymous red bowl that is used by Panglima Adat to communicate with other elders of the Dayak from other communities as well with the spirit of ancestors and fallen warriors. The ritual only took place when deranged criminal act such as killing or sexual attack are conducted within the Dayak community, and the offender refuse to settle the matter according to the upholded tradition there. The red bowl itself are used to do two things. First, it was used by the Panglima (Leader) of the injured party to call forth guidance of the gods, and when the gods complied, it possessed him and the bowl. The Panglima then came back to its village to gather around warriors and the injured family was expected to lead the retaliation act. The bowl was then passed from warriors to warriors, possessing each of them with spirits of fallen Panglima. The Panglima then instruct the red bowl to be carried away by a courier to the village of the offender in order to tell them that a retaliation party is coming. These retaliation party are said to be able to traverse a great distance by a single night, and cannot be stopped unless a counter ritual called Pamabakng are held to welcome them in the destination. This retaliation ritual resurfaces again in the modern period during the Japanese occupation, the eradication of communist party influence in East Borneo province, and also unfortunately during the Sampit Tragedy, which saw the massacre of estimated 600 people with Madura ethnic background.

The UB, the Huma Betang was a traditional house by the Dayak, able to accomodate over 200 people. It was also used to held meetings between Panglimas and other govermental activities. Even when Islam and other religion had been partially accepted by the members of the Dayak people, most of them continues to live under the same roof of one Huma Betang.

Hey!!!! Not fairrrrr his Indonesian why can't I be one too
(Please do moabites next)

Wasnt an Israeli-based civ the first one in this thread Natan?

methinks the natan doth protest too much

Americas next time for sure, I seem to have forgotten about them

#oldworldprivilege

hope it's mesoamerican because on average I hate everything haven't been interested in most civilizations from this challenge

Here's mine, based on one of the branches of Dayak people:

The Iban-Dayaks, as led by Libau Rentap

Unique Ability: Ngayau
If an Iban-Dayak unit kills an enemy unit, all adjacent enemy units take a 10% Combat Strength :c5strength: penalty. Penalty increases to 20% Combat Strength :c5strength: if the unit was fortified.

Unique Unit: Niabor Swordsman
The Unique Swordsman of the Iban-Dayak civilisation. Starts with the Drill I promotion. Additionally, if a Niaborian does not take any action while in a marsh tile, the marsh is drained.

Unique Unit #2: Manang
The Manang is a unique Great Person :c5greatperson: that does not replace any other Great Person for the Iban-Dayak civilisation. The Manang is generated through citizens working food tiles. The Manang can be expended to add one to the population :c5citizen: of a city or can build a Bertani, which yields +5 food :c5food:.

A niabor is a type of sword, heh. Maybe I should change the name to Niaborman or something like that?

Here's my attempt:

The Dayak

UA: Headhunters: Infantry units have a chance to create :greatwork: Artifacts upon killing enemies. Units gain +1 :c5strength: Combat Strength for every 2 non-barbarian kills, and upon reaching 10 kills, they provide a Great General bonus to adjacent units (does not stack).

UB: Rumah Panjan: Replaces Stable, but no Stable bonuses. +1 :c5production: Production on Jungles. Has three :greatwork: Great Work of Art slots, each of which correspond with a particular festival. If the slot is filled, it may be sacrificed to trigger a festival*. The slot does not regenerate until all three slots have been used up.

UU: Mandau Warrior: Replaces Longswordman, but unlocked at Metal Casting and upgrades to Rifleman. Double movement in jungles. 100% chance to create Artifacts from kills and can steal promotions from killed enemies as long as the prerequisites have been met.

*Fertility Festival: +1 :c5food: Food from Farms and Bananas. 33% of :c5food: Food is stored after a :c5citizen: Citizen is born.

War Festival: +10% :c5production: Land Unit Production. Units trained in this city gain a 15% :c5strength: Combat Bonus in foreign lands.

Weaving Festival: +15% :c5production: Production. Production buildings yield +1 :c5culture: Culture and +2 :c5greatperson: Great Artist Points.

I may end up doing this civ so I would like some feedback on it.

The second half of the UA doesn't extend to barbs for balance purposes. The UB replaces the Stable, because I didn't know where to put it and this civ is more based on melee units anyway. Just to clarify, the festival is temporary and only one festival may be active at a time and you have to do all the festivals before you can repeat.

Oh yes, that would work.

UlghurCaesar, your UA's second part is still pretty OP even when condensed from barbarians. Although it is somewhat balanced with the fact that it gets weaker as you go on in the game.

Hulu Aiq (Matheus Juli)
Start Bias: Coastal
Capital: :c5capital: Sengguang
UA: Nine Desa
Cities founded on Rivers are automatically connected to the :c5capital: Capital. Upon the connection of a City or City-State to the :c5capital: Capital, gain a flat amount of :c5culture: Culture and generate +2 :c5culture: Culture in both Cities.
UU: Z Force Guerrillas (replaces Marine)
In addition to the standard Marine starting bonuses, the Z Force has no Movement penalty for rough terrain, gains doubled Movement in Forest and Jungle tiles, and has the unique promotion "Harrisson's Headhunters", allowing them to deal 20 Damage to any adjacent enemy Military Unit on a Forest or Jungle Tile - and gain experience for doing so! While sadly weaker than the Marine it replaces (60 :c5strength: vs. 65), it can be upgraded to an XCOM Squad.
UB: Tungkat House (replaces Museum)
Unlike the Museum, each Tungkat House comes with a Tungkat Staff in one of the :greatwork: Great Work of Art slots, which can be swapped around. When filled with another Tungkat Staff, the Tungkat House generates +1 additional :c5culture: Culture for each :greatwork: Great Work in the City in which it is built. Requires an Opera House

---

Tried to do a modern one based on the Kingdom of the Headwaters concept; you can find useful links here, here, and here.

Scapegrace, so the only way to get additional Tungkat Staves is to build (or capture) more Tungkat Houses, right?

Okay team, get voting:

Scape
Uighur
TimeWalker
Kul
Natan

Then its on to our 'Sorry I forgot about the Americas lets make up for it' holiday extravaganza! Its the most magical time of the year people.

And because, why not, I'm throwing out how I would attack this challenge!

The Dayak
Leader: Ensumbar Rentap

UA: Kaharingan
Unimproved animal resources yield +2 :c5culture: culture and +1 :c5food: food for every 2 enemy units killed on your previous turn and are automatically connected to your :c5trade: trading network when a ranged unit occupies the same tile. +1 :c5happy: happiness and :c5production: production in cities following your pantheon.

UB: Hunters Longhouse (Replaces Forge)
The Hunters Longhouse is unlocked earlier than the forge it replaces, at construction and provides no bonuses for iron, but animal resources yield +1 :c5production: production in cities with a Hunters longhouse, while jungle tiles also provide +1 :c5production: production while constructing ranged units.

UU: Headhunter (Replaces Archer)
Though the headhunter is weaker than the archer it replaces, it receives one of five random 'poison' promotions when starting its turn on an animal resource or a jungle tile. Furthermore, if the headhunter kills an enemy unit, it may make a second attack with 15% :c5strength: bonus strength.

*poison promotions:
Spoiler :

'Fast Acting Toxins' - +50% damage while attacking enemy units.

'Lingering Toxins' - Enemy units continue to take 10 damage each turn after being attacked for 3 turns.

'Crippling Toxins' - Enemies attacked by this unit receive -1 movement point and are 15% weaker for 5 turns.

'Poison Failure' - Units with this promotion take damage each turn and have -1 movement points

'Spreading Sicknesses' - All units adjacent to this unit are 25% weaker and have a chance to take 10 damage, even friendly units.
