civ lll conquests

i am having an agravating problem; i play as the persians, do well, until about 540 ad, when i aquire chivalry, and the knight; at this point, if i try to build a knight, or even research chivalry in the index, i get a message " unable to locate knight. death.wav file - the game will now exit " this has caused me to stop playing for months at a time; any ideas ? i am using a dell 4600 dimension, xp w/ sve.pack 2;

Have you tried reinstalling?

Sounds like you are missing a file from a bad install like turner said. If not check to see if it was in the right place: Fireaxis\Civilization3\Art\Units\knight
Its in the regular Civ3 folder. Goodluck

The "knight death.wav" file issue is a known problem. The actual .wav file is misnamed, which is why it can't be found. Search this tech support forum for it.

Edit: Found it.

but the "knightdeath.wav" problem is well-known. Rename the file "knightdeath.wav" to "Knight Death.wav" (with a space between "Knight" and "Death").

thanx a MILLION ! i located the errant file in my Civ3 folder ( not Conquests ) and there was NO space between knight and death.wav ; i renamed it, with a space and looks like that was the fix; thanx again
