Civ Quiz I

Sounds like you put plenty of thought into getting the question accurate too DanF5771 :goodjob:

Ok all - here's a question:

What is the highest population a city can have in BTS if there are NO corporations present and NO settled Great Merchants?

(Assume "normal" map script resource/terrain rules - ie. you can have all clams or something if you want, but 'normal' pangea-type terrain applies - no resources on floodplains, no fish in freshwater lakes, etc!)
(Also no random events)

Hmm lets see, 20 irrigated farmed wheat after biology = 120 food, let's say 3 food for the city square = 123, +1 baray +1 supermarket = 125.

So I'm guessing 63 pop but I'm probably way off.

EDIT: I've seen corn on flood plains in Oasis maps however.

my answer is 80 81.

And, yes, I have seen wheat or corn on flood plains in games before. Monty had 1 in a HOF game that I was playing. I was very close to just giving him biology to see what he would do with that one tile.

Edit: 81 plus those buildings mentioned above.

On the right track Paradigm but no - higher than that.

Edit: wait I just saw that Ruff has answered but ... no, he has wheat on floodplains... so that's against the rules sorry! ... keep trying (also the tile one east of your city square only produces 5 food - perhaps you forgot to farm that one...

(resources on FPs also appear on the great plains map - but for the purposes of this question 'normal' pangea-type terrain applies only)

if you take out the flood plains then my answer is 72 with farmed wheat or corn on grass.

It's 73. 7 food per farmed grassland wheat after bio = 140 + 3 city square +2 baray and supermarket = 145.

So it gets to 73 and then starves back to 72.

Paradigm is incredibly close. 145 is the max food, so 73 is the biggest size that can be reached with food alone... but... it can get bigger...

(and without worldbuilder, although obviously it would be best to use worldbuilder to get all the wheat!)

ok, my city is at +1 food so it will grow to size 73 but then starve back to 72. So, technically, it can get to size 73.

I think r_rolo1 just hit the nail on the head ;)

what does paradigm do?

doh! was looking in civopedia for the building paradigm. :rolf:

Easy peasy!

Oasis.

EDIT: What about riverside ice or is it always tundra?

OK, I need to get one of my units to a tile. At the beginning of the turn, I notice it can move to where it needs to be.

Then all of my other military units do nothing.

At the end of the turn, the unit I wanted to move now can't reach where it wanted to go at the beginning of the turn. What just happened?

your worker destroyed / replaced a fort that you were using to cross thru land with a ship

That could do it, but it wasn't what I was thinking of. The unit isn't a ship.
