Civ Revolution 2

...> More in game options!!!
>>>>> This one is a must.
>>>>> Options to turn off advisors, speed up combat, turn off animations, turn off the camera's autocentering on moving units, turning off zoomed in combat, etc...

Second that! And also make it possible to go to "deselect mode" directley so you can scroll around the map for info, and be able to turn off auto movement you regret.

This should be in a patch for CivRev. But I guess there's no money in that.

Nope, no money in releasing a free patch. We did get some patches and the game went from kinda unplayable to pretty playable. The worst stuff was fixed at least. But yeah, no more patches. We got official word on that more than a year ago. A sequel? That we can hope for.

By the way, you can turn off auto movement, at least on the 360 (and probably ps3) version. If you're on the DS or iThing, then I know it's somewhat different. On the consoles, you just select your unit or army and click them again and that cancels the movement. Or you can even do this by quickly clicking while the unit is moving. I also scroll around fine at the end of the turn, so maybe you're on the DS and I'm giving you useless information. If so, sorry!

>Civ Revolution suck yeah its fun but Civ on pc is 4000000% better than Civ Revolution great gamble and thay did ok but civ4 did 100x better if they DO Civ Revolution 2 it would be a gamble if lost would be a killer to 2k and so on becouse of the state the usa ecomice is now if they would more to Australia OR Norway (fat change that would be) thay could have a change of recoveing from a down fall from a Civ Revolution 2.

They will not make another civ rev because the first one sucked really, really, bad.

I'll just try to keep it positive after an unconstructive comment like this (clearly a lot of us disagree with you). "Bad" is an adjective. "Sucked" is a verb. You want an adverb there. Try "badly."

I ask that the advisors speak your civ's language.

If not that, then English; that gibberish is annoying.

First, I would like to say that Civilization Revolution is the multiplayer game I enjoy the most on Xbox 360. I play and have played many games on Xbox Live but none have come close to Civilization Revolution in terms of positive addictiveness :). Here what I would like to have for Civilization Revolution multiplayer as I don't care for singleplayer (you can do what you want with it) : (In general, I want it to be more competitive because this game could be so much great than it is already.)

1) I want to be part of the multiplayer beta team :).
2) Fix those freezing issues.
3) Balance tweaks (patches) to make those very crappy and lesser crappy civs stronger (Mongols, Russians, French, Germans, Indians, etc)
4) 45 seconds per turn or something at least under a minute.
5) 5 player FFA, no dumb computer in a ranked match
6) Arrange team matches (no partner lottery, that sucks), random team matches for those who want to play it
7) Tournaments, there could be so much ideas here in how to handle that
8) The possibility to assign priorities (I don't want some tech or city to pop out as I get attacked next turn), I know this can be handle already but anyway maybe this can be better

That's it for now!

Best regards,
BObby

Yeah, that's a pretty good list for MP play. As for tournaments, a few have been run over at the 2k forums. There's one going on right now and I expect more will happen in the future. The competition is pretty high in those games.

Late but...

Great potential for the DS version, and from word of mouth, a lot of people wanted it and enjoyed Revolutions on a portable format, because it's a great fast paced on-the-go type Civ experience. If they had supported it more instead of focusing so much on the console versions. CivRev could have done really well as a handheld centric game (and I suspect the DS version sold very well considering its budget)

The axed features like the Civilopedia, and the fact they seemed to rush content, such the the quality of the visuals (seems like the whole game, at least the leader portraits, was done with 56 colors when the DS is capable of so much more) also made me feel like 2k didn't care about the handheld.

Hope they take portable format more seriously in a sequel.

I agree 100% with dexters. Neither the DS nor fans deserved such clow budget version :-(

Some things that would be nice in a CivRev2 (that haven't already been mentioned):

Using Spies to steal technology secrets
Notifications of world events - wars declared by AIs against each other, cities being built, etc.
Automatic Wakeup for units in Defend mode or on automatic move (wake up when it encounters another unit)

And to make things more interesting, natural disasters:
Earthquakes in cities next to mountains, reducing population by 1-2 and destroying some buildings
Hurricanes/Tsunamis for coastal cities (same effect?)
Famine: no production, citizens in anarchy for one or more cities in a region
etc.

I could list alot of stuff I'd like to see in a civrev sequel. But mainly it boils down to three things:

1) Fix broken AI.
In CivRev the AI deserves credit for going after the victory conditions (except domination), but the praise stops there. In peace time they make stupid decisions and at war they are predictable and will only win by luck or superior strenght. Never any form of tactical wit.

2) Diplomacy and relations.
IMO this is the only part of civrev 1 that was way overly nerfed. All AI civs behave the same, and you have no ability to make any forms of pacts or treaties. You're just facing a monotome horde of agressive AI civs. Any good game of civ need both allies and enemies.

3) Game options.
Map type, game length, civ numbers ect ect.. It's missed.

Civilization Revolution was awesome for the first 10 or so play-throughs. But eventually these faults began to excessive shine through. Firaxis, please make CivRev 2 and please fix these things!

Yup, I agree completely, especially points 2 & 3. It's a really fun game at first but the shallow diplomacy and lack of game options does make every game the same after a while (something I would never say about Civ 4!).

I would also add:
4) Let us save the game when playing multi-player with friends! No matter how much you streamline civ it's still going to take too long to play in 1 sitting. I'd love to play civrev with friends but the lack of a save feature just makes civrev mp too frustrating to play as we know we're not going to have time to finish it.

I would love to see a Civ Revolution 2, but I think it'll be a while before we see it. It'll probably be when they're on Xbox 720/PS4. I think the game is fun, especially in multiplayer, but there were a lot of issues with the game.

Anyway, if/when they do release it, I hope they:

1. Provide more gameplay options. Map size, game speed, etc.
2. Improve AI. I can't stand playing against the computer because it's too easy, but not even fun. The AI constantly attacks the human unless you're attacking them first.
3. Get rid of the obligatory AI player in human games.
4. Make the civs more balanced. Some are way more powerful than others.
5. More government options.
6. Improve diplomacy. Let people be able to have relations with other players.

I'm sure there's more of them, but basically what I want is them to just make the game more in depth. I realize the game needs to be simplified for the console, and I don't mind that, unlike most computer Civ players. If I want a long, marathon game, I'll play Civ IV (or soon to be Civ V!), but if I want a fast paced game, I'll play Civ Revolution. Right now, since the AI is so boring, I only play against human players though, and even that has gotten boring because 90% of the time it's the Zulu or Aztec rush, and if those fail, the players quit. If you go back on this forum like a year and a half, I was a big proponent of the Zulu rush in Civ Rev, but I expected them to tone it down or do something to make it more fair in a patch, but they never did. So yeah, keep the game somewhat simplified for the consoles, but put a little more depth in it, and just make it more fair and balanced.

Anyway, I'd be surprised if we see a Civ Revolution before 2015, and everyone knows the world is going to end in 2012 anyway.

I think the map sizes should be increased at least as an option and I want a PSP version...(Playing the PS1 version of Civ2 just isn't fun)

I enjoy CIVREV on PS3 and XBOX 360

I cut my teeth on CIV 2 on PS1 and loved it, I am currently going back and playing CIV2 on PS3, a blast for me, Im 5o, nearing 51 so that may have something plus recovering from a major auto accident that left me with 4 surgeries and permanently disabled.

I am a longtime civer, been coming here, Poly and WPC, love CTP CIV2, CIV4 and the expansions. CIV III was too broken for my tastes.

I would like some minimal moddability (perhaps customability is better?)

Map sizes, difference in types of maps, number of civs to commepte against, type of game like conquest, science or cultural victory.

Maybe this will happen, I would pay for it as well.

Grandpa Troll

civ rev is my fav game and id love to see a sequle. i think they shuld add aircraft carriers, hellicopters(transport & attack), ati aircraft guns, transport planes and jet fighters. they shuld let u cuztomise your own civ (canada for instance) pick colours, leader, and upto 3 UU's. i like the idea of air support. but one thing id realy like 2 see is random natureal disasters(hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, drouts, floods, tsunami's, with some being more frequent than others in some areas of the map) also bigger maps, more civs ie. persia, native tribes such as appache, korea, indoneia, and vikings, id also like cuztomisable maps. and more civs in each match. now onto buildings. airports for trading(i alwas wondered how my bombers and fighters landed and refueled without a runway), sporting arenas 4 national and international teams(adding culture); and while were on the subject of sports what about the olimpics?(ever time its held in your country u get a boost in culture & economy). and somthing i just thout of as i was wrighting was that citys can rebel and seperate or declare there indipendace if not treted properly becoming similer to barbarians. so yeah these are my ideas

Well if they do make another Civ Rev they should focus on improving the framerates and upping the player counts. Civ Rev lags for no real apparent reason. It's as if it was designed on the PC then ported to the console. The exclusive release contradicts the optmization found in Civ Rev. Good game but very poor performance in what should be a fully otpimized native console game using the proper technology. It's still an underperforming Civ 4 lite in my mind. Console users deserve a much better Civ experience then that found in Rev.
