Soundtracks uploaded prior to the game’s release is a surprise. I’m hoping for many more ambient/cultural themes this time around, especially considering there are a limited number of civs per age. Hearing the same few themes in VI on a loop (amazingly composed as they were) got a bit tiresome.

I don't know if it was the amount of songs in Civ 6 or just because every Civ had the same song 4 times over, but you're right, Civ 6's music ended up feeling very repetitive.
I hope Civ 7 puts a renewed focus on broadly applicable ambient tracks (like Civ 5 had); that would do a lot to keep the music sounding fresh.

you get the synths in the themes of Greece, Rome, and Maya though at least. Haven't listened to all of the themes yet, but it seems others (Egypt, Khmer, Chola, Maurya, Mississippi) managed to stay away from it. Maybe it's Rizzo = synths and Knorr = no synths. In any case, Rizzo's tunes still gives me the civ 2 vibe
Have you guys forgotten about my Civ7 soundtrack thread?
Also Civ5 soundtrack had a lot of "ambient" tracks because Firaxis paid a Music company for their use. I doubt they will do that again for Civ7. I actually like the Civ6 soundtrack, regardless of the repetitiveness. Asking for ambient music like that of Civ4 and Civ5 might be too be an undertaking for the composers.

In my defense, I wanted to post about this in your thread, but this one was already up… maybe the two should be merged?
Re: ambient music, I’ve been dying for a custom way to add Civ 5 music to Civ 6’s playlist, but couldn’t find any tips on that. Ended up turning music to 0 and playing a YouTube playlist in the background instead. This is not to dunk on Civ 6’s music - I loved it for the first 100 hours, but after that the feeling of repetitiveness grows exponentially.
