Pffff
How come I didn't know about that mod before? :crazyeye:

Could you say a few words why would you include them as great spies?
I didn't find too much info, and don't really know any of them besides Bontenbal

They aren't actually spies like Mata Hari. I couldn't find any real Dutch spies of that time, so I put some feared murders in the list. (I think they are in the same category as Balthasar Gerard, the murderer of Willem van Oranje, which is a great spy in the vanilla game)

I know they aren't the best we can have, but I don't know better ones.

A mod doing this was made a while ago, there are a bunch of names (including many already mentioned) maybe worth checking out,
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=199344

there are also a lot of female GP names here, definitely worth putting in,
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=349231&page=6

Do you have a full version of Gaius Octavius' mod? It seems it's lost because of the CFC site hack a couple years ago.
The latest version I could find is the 2001 names version in the OP

Also, I found your post in the thread, which made me wondering:
Maybe you have a personal version, with all your additions included from that post? Maybe the female GPs too from SaibotLieh?

I'm afraid I don't, but I think the 2001 names version was about as far as it went, I'd be happy to dig up some more names for you if you would like though, name the civ/nation/people and it would be my pleasure :D

No prob, I'm already more or less through both the 2001 names version of the mod, and your additions
Checking the background information for all those great people - and of course all the others I can find/think of, as well as the already mentioned ones in this thread - is a really slow process
I literally spent most of my free time in the last week with this :crazyeye:
And to be honest, I had pretty much free time last week :p

I'd be happy to dig up some more names for you if you would like though, name the civ/nation/people and it would be my pleasure :D

Sounds great, thanks!
There will be many remaining gaps, so every improvement is more than welcomed...

Here are some for Sweden, these are all pre-1800, I do have plenty more post-1800 as I did rather struggle with some categories...

Still not finished running through all the GPs from the mod, but I'm pretty close
Will post the lists when I'm ready
And then you can jump in for some gap-filling, if you would like to ;)

I'm up to 1500+ medieval names now
One last big database to go through, then I will post everything here civ by civ, up for discussion before being added
Anway, if everything goes well, this is soon happening to the mod :D

I'd be happy to dig up some more names for you if you would like though, name the civ/nation/people and it would be my pleasure :D

Austria:

GP: Melchior Khlesl, Georg Scherer, Georg Eder
GA: Christoph Willibald Gluck, Marx Augustin (legendary bagpipeplayer who fell drunk into a massgrave during the plague of 1679 and didn´t get infected - rather for fun than a serious artist ;) )
GG: Leopold Philipp Montecuccoli, Octavio Piccolomini, Leopold Joseph von Daun
Spy: Walter Deveroux (scottish mercenary who assassinated Wallenstein if you find that suitable),
Scientist: Gerard van Swieten,
GE: Hans Puchsbaum

More later, thats what just came to my mind at the moment

I also did some small reading for Austria
Currently (without the names collected by 702, 3 posts above):

How many names do you need/want for every civilization?
