Civ V Ideas & Suggestions Summary

I for one am glad the stacks of doom are gone. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Strategy? What strategy? In Civ5 unit placement is actually important!

A lot better than old stacks. Bottlenecks? Deal with it. Armies in real life also had to deal with it.

i actually oppose the 1upt. its unrealistic. the bottlenecks existed in the SoD theory. (production cost and the very real threat of being wiped out instantly by tactical nukes)

now i cant do any warfare at all. with the high unit cost and irritating maintaince, its impossible.

How exactly is it unrealistic? Tanks and troops take up space. They cannot occupy the same space at once.

Battle lines and formations existed in real life - and that's what you have now.
StacksofDoom were GARBAGE. And they belong in the garbage.

But there is a middle ground, you know. I don't think anyone is really advocating for the reinstatement of stacks as they were. I for one, and I'm pretty sure others too, just want a better solution to the problem than the one that has been given. I'm content to play with what was been made of it, but this forum is about the eternal search for perfection in the design of game features.

One thing I think all people can agree on changing is that there should be a way to select both a military unit and nonmilitary unit at the same time. Its annoying to escort a great general or worker long distances with a soldier, or even worse a horse because you have to skip the horses remaining movement points.

Bottlenecks are tactical... Anyway, the non stacking rule IS unrealistic. Units DO take up space, but they can also share space with another unit. The only disadvantage (in real life) is that it's hard to organize and combat efficiency goes down.

Bottlenecks can be quite strategic too. They are often tactical in the sense of "I'll just place my stack on this hill surrounded by mountains, so they can't get through", but if that is your overall plan for the defence of your empire, then it is an entirely strategic decision.

I don't doubt you know your military stuff, but whether or not it involves tactical battles, having a bottleneck as your empire's defensive cornerstone is a clearly strategic consideration.

I also defends the realism, but only as long as it doesn't umbalance the game.

When we talk about tiles, we are talking about large portions of land, where a lot of troops could stay with ease. But it DOES take out a lot of strategy involved, so the cons (fun factor) are bigger then the pros (realism factor) in terms of SoD.

But we could have armies. It's just that the whole game is designed for upt system and I guess only the next installment can change it, not just a patch or expansion.

I'd love to have a civ game go into space and continue on.

2.The Russian Space Station
3.International Space Station
4.SpaceShuttle

etc etc...

New added wonders they should have....

1.Temple of Artemis of Ephesus

I completely agree. I suspect the inability to do so now is simply due to sloppy progaming. The same goes for the inability to have a workboat and a genuine naval vessel in the same tile until the workboat has been used up.

Wait, they got rid of the Mausoleum of Maussollos??? I thought that was one of the 7 wonders.
