In this thread people can post what nations they think should be added to the next game in the CIV series. So anyway here's the general list of what could be added IMHO. This of course is a general list and I am not expecting for all this to happen within the span of one game or expansion pack. I also made this thread because I had suggested the idea earlier that we create sub sections for the CIV V requests so that the threads don't get as cluttered.

USA

Considering that that the entire game of Civilization revolves around cities, you seriously think it should have the Inuit as a playable civilization? That's even worse than having the Sioux. :p

Germany
Dutch
Viking
Holy Roman Empire
Goths
Vandals

No... just no.

Greece
Byzantine

Why not have classical and medieval versions of every major civilization as different civs while we're at it? :p

Rather than a giant laundry list of redundant and slightly different nationalities, let's start with the basic premise of the game: taking a nation from one neolithic settlement to world domination or the Space Age. Which civs make the most sense starting like that? I would say:

Egypt
Sumeria
India
China
Olmecs

Furthermore, what nations do we know "have to be" in Civ 5 whether it makes any sense to have them starting in the neolithic or not, because they've been in the initial releases of the previous games?

Persians
Greeks
Romans
Russians
Germans
French
English
Americans
Japanese
Aztecs

That leaves probably 1-3 slots for other civilizations, considering that Civ 3 shipped with 16 and Civ 4 with 18. So who should fill those slots?

I was just wanting to give a variety of Amerindian civs. Yes, the Sioux did have cities and agriculture before the introduction of the horse.

No... just no.
You know you said no to civs that came with the civ 4 vanilla and expansion pack and the one I put on the list already.

Some of those nations did have a good amount of importance by affecting the Medieval/Classical ages and thus are own.

To you these may be redundant and may be true to some extent but to myself it's list that should be done. It's nice to have a good variety of civs. About the basic premise part... well thank you for enlightening me, I feel much wiser. ;)

Egypt
Sumeria
India
China
Olmecs
I guess I can agree but It's nice to break the tradition sometimes.

Once again I can agree but It's nice to break the tradition sometimes.

That amount I assume would increase due to better machines, computers and ect.

I would want to separate the Vikings as 3 nations: Norse, Swedish And Finnish. Those are already done, in the Road To War WW2 Scenarios.

My point is that the number of civilizations that will ship with the game is limited by the need to devise, code, and play test unique combinations of traits, starting technologies, and unique units and buildings, plus create leaderheads etc... by asking for 6+ Germanic nations, you'd be making them a third of the available civilizations. Ditto for "I want Greeks, and also medieval Greeks as a completely different civilization coexisting with them", it takes away scarce slots that would otherwise allow a greater diversity of nations to play.

And if you would not like one country, you could take it away from the list or something else for players, who don't like over 20 civs.

What?

I notice you didn't ok anything from Oceania, why?

I think just a polynesian civ would be ok. Having australia is pointless like having a canada or new zealand civ. Maori is too close to polynesia to have both, maybe Aborigines but if i could just pick one, i would pick polynesia. Of course many of the cities would be maori cities.

I think RL civs in Civ-games is a big lack of realism. For example, nations IRL come and go. Civs in Civ stays forever. Another is that nations evolve from other nations. For example USA from England, Rome from the Etruskians, Russia from Nordic and so on. And also, do you think the Zulus started and evolved their culture in the tundra?
So, the Civilization franchise is very realistic...........................NOOOOOT!!!
So I would like to to see imaginary civs that evolves their culture. Maybe this would be called SIM-ilization.

In addition to what we already have:

Europe: Spanish, Dutch, Portugal

Africa: Carthage, Ethiopia, Zululand

Asia: Mongolia

Americas: Sioux, Mayans, Incans

Then also add a bunch of city-states to fill in the blanks (Europe is WAY over-represented)

No Vikings please!
