Must've been that they were building Machu Picchu on that mountain when someone else completed it, or someone captured the city. All wonders place roads under themselves, unless they're on water - this was never changed to account for a wonder getting built on a mountain, so it results in the game counting the mountain as simultaneously impassable and having a road (and not just a teleporter like a qhapaq ñan or a mountain tunnel). I always use the cheat map editor mod to manually remove roads from Machu Picchu and any failed attempts at building it cos I just don't like how it looks.I don't quite know how the Arabian traders pulled this stunt. Someone with more LotR knowledge than me can probably put a suitable reference on this.
Spoiler :
But the road leads to the mountain from either side? Usually with Wonders you just get a ring road with no attachments...this has a road coming from either side, and the farm doesn't have a road, so that implies that they went through the mountain?Must've been that they were building Machu Picchu on that mountain when someone else completed it, or someone captured the city. Apparently, he shall pass.I don't quite know how the Arabian traders pulled this stunt. Someone with more LotR knowledge than me can probably put a suitable reference on this.

Judging from the smoking buildings to the north, and the Brazilian architecture despite kaspergm mentioning Arabian traders, I'm guessing the cities were conquered from Arabia by Brazil, so the other roads might be from districts that were getting built, or trade routes that were in-progress, at time of conquest. Also, Machu Picchu might've been cancelled from conquest rather than someone else finishing it first. But the road leads to the mountain from either side? You may be on to something, actually. I'm not sure whether Saladin tried to build Machu Picchu or not (I think he did? But I'm not sure), but I know the two other roads were left by wonders that got sniped from him. It did surprise me that the roads connect up to the mountain in that way, but it could be Machu Picchu was the reason why.Judging from the smoking buildings to the north, and the Brazilian architecture despite kaspergm mentioning Arabian traders, I'm guessing the cities were conquered from Arabia by Brazil, so the other roads might be from districts that were getting built, or trade routes that were in-progress, at time of conquest. Do I have that right, @kaspergm?
My point was that it was a road leading to the mountain tile, then starts the otherside. Unless they were formed by two traders who happened to get to those tiles simultaneously from opposite directions and both got cancelled at that moment, you'd expect the road to detour to the west into the farm tile.Judging from the smoking buildings to the north, and the Brazilian architecture despite kaspergm mentioning Arabian traders, I'm guessing the cities were conquered from Arabia by Brazil, so the other roads might be from districts that were getting built, or trade routes that were in-progress, at time of conquest. Ah ok yeah that'd explain it. To my knowledge Machu Picchu is the only way to get roads on a mountain tile, and if there were three failed wonders in a row the road graphics would all automatically connect with each other rather than just show 3 road circles in a row. Sucks for Saladin that he lost 3 wonders in a literal row lol.You may be on to something, actually. I'm not sure whether Saladin tried to build Machu Picchu or not (I think he did? Really? Why *not* take it? You have the luxuries in surplus, you have plenty of horses and gold ... but maybe that's just me.I know the Iliad is a great read, but it's not that good, really.

That's what I was thinking. Luxuries are no loss really, you get them back in 30 turns (or declare war) and are ridiculously over stocked, 61 gold is nothing really for GW. Horses are maybe a problem depending on Gorgo's intentions for war and perhaps you're own.Really? Why *not* take it? Gorgo, Gorgo. I know they say to aim high, but this is pretty close to vertical.

I would instantly accept that deal! I mean 2% (well 1,96) more culture for 61 gold and some spare luxuries is amazing.
As promised, here's how it looks by the end of the game. Looks very nice, as I expected - very satisfying to have such a large forest, and very silly to see a giant office building out in the middle of it. Sadly, no forest fires occurred - was hoping they'd come and massively buff the yields of the forest, but no luck.Just love how this Furs industry in the middle of a large forest looks. "Quaint" isn't exactly the right word, but it gets close. I'm definitely gonna put a preserve on that plains tile 2 tiles south and plant a few more woods to fully surround it, I'll post an update once I do cos I'm sure it'll look really pretty (and when I do I'll be sure to show if any forest fires had happened by then).View attachment 596008
