Civ VI TSL

Does any one know if there will be a TSL Earth map included in the game when it comes out in october? I very much hope so.

You didn't ask for opinions, but mine is that there will be an earth map but no TSL map with the first release. OTOH if the mod builder comes out at the same time, it will be easy enough to create a TSL map from it.

If there is a TSL map on launch, it will have some very big blank spaces. It will be very difficult to play as a European Civ.

Almost 100% no. TSL is a community creation, not from the devs. While they are aware of TSL the devs have already stated the initial roster was decidedly not balanced for TSL games.

The Earth 18 Civs scenario in Civ IV got around this by filling up Europe with resources. European civs had little land, but the land they did have was very rich. An interesting solution.

Even if it is unbalanced, I would like there to be an option to choose TSL. I played almost every game on a TSL Earth map in Civ V. Even if its unbalanced its more fun for me.

I also think it is not much of a problem if it is unbalanced.

The whole real world is unbalanced after all :D

Wasn't it included in versions of civ before 5? I want to say that it was but I honestly don't remember.

I want a real-world map (I almost never play on anything else in Civ5), but I don't want a TSL map. Part of the fun of the Earth map is figuring out where in the world you are (and restarting if you find yourself in central Africa :p ).

I included all the civs that will most likely be in the game on the map. IMO, as of right now, an Earth map TSL will not be that fun since most of the civs are clustered in/by Europe

Only if you play 18 civs.

If you play with less than 18 civs, and the game chooses "random" opponents to minimize adjacency, it should be fine (a 9 civ game with current setup should always be America, Aztec, Brazil, Kongo, India, China, Japan, and 2 Euro/Middle East civs)

Wow, in that video Ed Beach said that "it was something that's been in the back of our minds as we've developed Civilization 6." If that's true, is hate to see what the civs would have been if they didn't think about it at all....

I think it may more have been about developing mechanics such as districts.

because on TSL, most European countries = 1 maybe 2 cities

Civ wise, I think they were more having it in mind for expansions

first expansion maybe. 2nd certainly.

Vanilla civ 6 is to eurocentric to have enough true city locations unless including modding.

At least we could do european and north africa tsl (maybe with kongo in west africa to fill the gap) from ireland to sumer
