Civ4 BTS Patch v3.13 is up

And if you ever DO get BtS (don't get Warlords, you get everything from it in BtS except the scenarios), you need to download the official 3.13 patch (open the game and click Advanced then Check for Updates) and then download this patch, and follow the installation instructions included in the readme

you wanted to say he should also get the Unofficial patch for 3.13 ;) This is the thread for the official one :p
 
hey guys, i just got around to re-installing everything on my comp. i re-installed civ4 from scratch. installed warlords, then installed beyond the sword. now it works fine when i run the original but after i installed the new 3.13 update. i open up beyond the sword and it doesnt show me the option to look at the "audio" and "other". Im running Windows Vista. Does anyone know if its the DirectX update that comes with the 3.13 patch???
 
Hi, all.

I was playing Road to War mod, ant then I saw a patch in witch you can play as Hitler. So, if I wanted that add-on, I also needed this BTS 3.13 patch. I just thaught I will play this game, but after installing this patch, it crashes when it loads "init graphics". I also tried to play just a simple game on BTS(not scenario), but after one turn, it also crashed. The wanila and warlords can't be launched... I didn't installed nothing, just BTS 3.13, Add-on for Road to War mode, and one more patch for Road to War(it fixes some problems witch are caused by Road to warr add-on)... I don't understand much about D2D versions and steams, but can anyone explain me what theese versions mean and what I need to do, to solve the chrasing problems?

I'm sure I am not the first to encounter something like this, but I was hoping for some help since the Firaxis site is, well, not helpful.

I went through the "Advanced" option in BTS to download the patch and did, and then it went through the "game needs to close to install" runaround. During this stage I received an error message along the lines of "no previous version of BTS is installed. Cannot update without previous version."

Any ideas why this is happening?

Do you have a download version of BtS?

IIRC it means the site you got the download version from provides a patch for their version of BTS. The patch you can get through the game does not work for downloaded versions.
 
Hi, I installed my old direct2drive bought CIV IV and then CIV IV Warlords. And now I found out that there are 3 patches (which i'm downloading now):

Civ IV Patch 1.74
Civ IV Warlords Patch 2.13
Civ IV Beyond the Sword Patch 3.13

Do I have to install them all? or do I just have to install the 3.13 one? If I do have to install them all ... does the order matter?

Beyond the Sword should have patched Civ4 and Warlords to 1.74 and 2.13 when you installed it in the first place - so you likely need to only download 3.13. You can easily check this by starting each of the games and clicking on advanced -> about this build if it says version 174 and 213 respectively this holds true for d2d as well...
Just in case: you need to download the patches from d2d and cannot use the update routine within the game for d2d versions.
 
Ok so now I have another problem. When I play with Revolutions loaded, it eventually crashes my computer. One second the game is moving along, the next second my laptop is just off. This only happens when the game is running. Any ideas?
 
It could be that your laptop is overheating. It turns itself off to avoid actually melting the computer :-)

But, as far as I know Revolutions is not out yet, and it's only for consoles, you probably meant BTS.
 
If your laptop is overheating, try improving the ventillation. Use a vacuum cleaner to suck some dust from your computer. Try putting a book under your laptop (careful not to block the vents). Try using ice cubes in a securely sealed plastic bag, or special cooling liquid.

The real solution is, of course, go and get a more expensive brand laptop. :-)
 
I doubt it's my laptop because I've never had the problem with any other games or programs or any other versions of Civ IV INCLUDING BTS before the patch. In my mind it's obviously related to the patch since the problem did not exist before the patch and the patch (and the installation of REVOLUTIONS, which is a mod that has been fairly popular for all three versions of Civ IV by the way---but this same problem occurred when I ran the vanilla game post-patch) is the only change that has taken place on my system.

So does anyone have ideas on what it could be besides laptop overheating?
 
Have you had previous BTS patches installed? Previous mods? You might want to consider uninstalling BTS (and possibly vanilla/warlords) and reinstalling it. Then patch it to 3.13 directly. Then install your mod.

you should post this question here - I assume it is because you do not have the right HOF-Mod version or the right patch, but the thread I linked will get you firm answers.

After checking a few things the game now works.
