Civ4 BTS v3.19 Patch

Is it worth it to download this, or should I keep using 3.17?

Hi,
in spite of my reserves, to be able to reach new Mods, I finally come to download the patch 3.19.
This functioned well as much as I played only of Mods applied to this version, but when I wanted to practise the basic play (vanilla?!), I realized that the EDITOR of world did not function and… created a Bug truth!!!
Thinking how my remote loading was perhaps defective, I removed the patch, and (after having again charged it on another mirror) I tried to install it again… but this did not function of the whole! :mischief:

After many attempts, I resigned myself to recopy my old BtS-v3.17 (which I beforehand had copied and preserved), but that did not function either… :woohoo:In fact, after several hours “copy-to stick” despairing, the solution finally appeared to me by miracle (it should be believed that I was perhaps stupid) in the CD… which proposed to me to download the basic BtS!
What means that the obliteration carried out by the patch 3.19 had erased only oneself, but unworthily the whole of the MOD!!! :badcomp:
Here are hours of life very stupidly lost…

Thus, after having thus reinstalled it, it was necessary obviously Re-patch then this (new) BtS since the v3.02… up to 3.17 to again be able to play my BtS! As for the v3.19, it appears to me of this fact that I will have had to remain about it with my former mistrust.

Be thus more malignant than me, if not be thus wary, and… good luck!

:crazyeye:

When installing 3.19 the patch would just exit.

Installed 3.17 first and then 3.19 worked fine. Running Windows 7.

3.19 is the latest (and likely last) patch for BtS.

And I still can't play any version of Civ IV on my new computer with Windows 7. I've tried everything recommended to me, and the game still keeps freezing. I'll just have to wait until Civ V appears, I suppose.

Ok, so I just finished downloading the patch. It took almost an hour because of my slow internet, but it worked. However, when it came time to install it, nothing happened. I found out that I could run "PATCH_319.exe" under "\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\Patch" so I tried that. That's not working either. It simply says "Setup.exe has stopped working"

Any ideas? I'm running Vista, by the way.

-- I think I found out the the problem is, and I think I'm gonna kill myself for it. It wasn't working before, so I started up the game to see what would happen. It said there was a patch available, and I checked to see what would happen if I tried downloading it again. Instead of telling me I already had it, it started re-downloading it. I closed it out, and that's when I tried running "PATCH_319.exe"... So, I just realized that it overlapped the whole patch I downloaded before with the 1% of it I just downloaded. You can only imagine how frustrated and angry I am right now.... *twitches repeatedly*

Did you try setting up WinXP compatibility mode? This might require additional memory before it will work, and on my machine the "can you run win7?" program told me I had to change some flag in the BIOS, too. Still running XP, so I can't report from actual experience.

What's BIOS?

More detail on WinXP compatibility:
  • We bought Win7 Professional for one of our machines, and it appeared to have XP compatibility mode built in, so what I said before might be relevant only to Win7 Home Edition.
  • I based my comments about what might be necessary for WinXP compatibility on a report printed by a program Microsoft supplies about whether one's machine is ready for Win7, so what you need to do on your machine might be different from what I need to do.
  • The BIOS is low-level hardware control stuff. Most people ignore it completely, but from time to time something requires you to change something in it. It's so low level you have to access it by pressing a specific key early in the machine boot process -- you might get a message like "press F2 for setup". Don't try this unless somebody is at hand who knows how BIOS setup works.

Okay. I hope someone can help me.

I downloaded patch 3.19. i tried to install it. After giving me several options, i click install and it immediately freezes. Any idea why?

I have an XP machine.

--after clicking install, a box flashes for a split second before it freezes.

--I went into my games folder and that install didn't work. I downloaded from civfanatics, that didn't install either.

Flash 1:

I got the same problem, got BtS yesterday. Have you tried installing 3.17 first? I will try that later this evening, it helped others, look above.

EDIT: Yes! that worked for me too. First 3.17, then 3.19.

For other people having 3.19 install problems, I had problems when I first tried installing it that seem to be related to the NO-CD patch I had been using. So if you can't install and are patched to 3.17 and running a NO-CD on BTS, try replacing your exe file with the original before installing the patch. You can find the file on your disk or, if you're smart, you made a back up of the exe after you patched it to 3.17 and before replacing it with the crack.

Couple of random notes on this:

1. If you didn't back up the exe file and have to copy it from your disk, you will have to patch to 3.17 before 3.19 most likely (purely anecdotal from a homie who had the same problem)

2. That this is what is causing your problem at all is a 50/50 shot as near as I can tell. I was unable to run the 3.19 patch over one install that was running a NO-CD but had no problems on another attempt with the same setup.

3. No more NO-CD cracks needed with 3.19. Sweet.

No idea if this is actually what my issue was but it seemed to do the trick so I throw it out there for others in case it helps.
