Civ6 Live stream in 12 mn (3PM EST)

Looks like the airport district has its own buildings you can stick inside it. Looks like a big Hangar type of deal.

Also worth noting is the fact that the spaceport is required for multiple launches you need to do for the Space VC. There were 3 rockets at the end of the video. Moon, Mars, Alpha Centauri?

Well it looks like you won't won't be able to build all your wonders in a single city. They will have to be spread around and not limited to your highest production city. And furthermore, in order to grab all the right terrain, you will have to spread your empire out. All very good.

was anyone able to get the bonus for the Hagia Sophia or Venetian Arsenal my pause-fu is not strong today

the combat animations look a little strange (i'll have fast animations on anyway) but i don't mind the leader animations so much. they're really expressive but in the same way that 3d kids movies are today. they seem to be well-rendered though

here's some assorted information i can remember. you may need to double check but this is basically telling you that this information can be grabbed from the game:

missionaries seem to be 'apostles' now according to that temple wonder which gives you 3
oracle gives +1 gpp to all gp (and maybe a boost to gpp production? can't remember)
great library has to be built next to a campus with a library, has slots for 2 great works
eiffel tower boosts 'appeal' in cities which i guess is the replacement for tourism (which i think is good -- 'tourism' as a value seemed strange to export)
hanging gardens must be built near a river as does watermill of course, which is built in city centre district (same with granary -- which boosts rice, etc yields -- and monument)
theatre district gets a major boost near wonders
barbarians get horse archers
game generally looks to have the same units as bnw
boost to sailing by founding a city on the coast

I don't mind the combat animations. The knight one looked a little glitchy, though.

Apostles are a separate unit from Missionaries

I'm usually positive about everything but those odd red explosions....I don't know.

That needs some fine tuning, I agree.

The Chinese city build menu had an unit called 'Heavy Chariot'. Could it be an UU, did Chinese have those?

I believe it's the UU:

1. I don't think there are 2 regular chariots in game, so don't need to use the word "heavy".

2. China moved away from chariots to mounted warfare about 100 years later than Mediterranean nations, they were in heavy use during Qin Shi Huang time.

3. It looks like they could be built in cities without military district. I'm not sure which units require it and which don't, but it surely could be a part of UU specialization.

Judging by that screenshot, trade routes are vastly toned down. +1 food and production, +2 gold in the very early game. Ofc the road is also a benefit, and the bonuses are bound to increase later on. Good to know that they've gotten rid of the ridiculous +9 food spam of Civ V though.

Don't forget - they build roads. So, they are both very valuable and not give crazy bonuses. I like it.

EDIT:

I don't mind the combat animations. The knight one looked a little glitchy, though.

I wouldn't expect animations to be final at this point.

interesting. what's the difference?

I wish I could tell you. If I had to guess. I'd say apostles convert the the godfearing, and missionaries convert the godless. I assume so because Mt San Michel gives your apostles the "Martyr" promotion, suggesting thy could be executed. Now who'd wanna execute an apostle? A civ of a rival religion, surely.

Most social policy discussions have assumed that 'wildcard' means you can choose economic, military or diplomatic - but it appears to be a specific set of policies focusing on culture and religion.

My guess is that Apostles got the Great Prophets' super conversion ability while Missionaries remain the same as in Civ V and Great Prophets all have their little unique abilities.

Hagia Sophia
+4 Faith per turn
+2 Great Prophet points per turn

Missionaries and Apostles can spread religion 1 extra time. Must be built on a *something* tile adjacent to a Holy Site and you need to have founded a religion.

Venetian Arsenal
+2 Great Engineer points per turn

Receive a second naval unit every time you train a naval unit. Must be built adjacent to a coast tile and adjacent to an Industrial Zone.

You might have cracked it.
In Civ5 faith is used for everything (missionaries & Great Prophets). Prophets can found or enhance a religion or spread religion.

I'm guessing in civ 6.
Great Prophets are now generated from Great Person Points - so separate from Faith
I'd assume Great Prophets are now exclusively used to found or modify religions?
Faith is used to spread your religion (missionaries, apostles etc...)

So the Great Prophet founds the religion, and you use faith to spread the religion via missionaries and apostles (this way Great Prophets have a much more defined role).
Apostles might be stronger at breaking an existing religion - i.e. like the 12 apostles of Jesus that converted Jews and Pagans worshippers to christianity. I'd assume they cost more faith to buy.
Missionaries might be cheaper and better suited to converting cities that have no religion.

Actually, the Mongols have some excellent candidates for female leaders. :)

Toregene, for example. She kept things together in the 1240s and was an exceptional woman. The Mongol Empire might have even collapsed at that time without her.

Khutulun would be also be great. A great warrior with a strong personality.
She refused to marry anyone who could not defeat her in a wrestling match and the story goes that she never lost and won over 10,000 horses in the process. :D

Manduhai the Wise would be another excellent choice. Anyone who fights a battle while pregnant with twins gets my vote. ;)

This is an excellent book on the subject that I highly recommend:

The Secret History of the Mongol Queens: How the Daughters of Genghis Khan Rescued His Empire by Jack Weatherford.

https://www.amazon.com/Secret-History-Mongol-Queens-Daughters/dp/0307407160?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0

Anyway, I hope the leader screens indicate multiple leaders per Civ. That would be an excellent re-addition to the series. :)

As you can tell, I know absolutely nothing about Mongol history:D, but I was only giving an example. Still, I don't suppose there are viable female leaders for every civilization; what about Songhai? Of course it is possible what I am identifying a non issue, and that it would be more than feasible to have a male and female leader for each civilization.

I think it's worth noting that the Civ playing experience of the female interviewer is a topic of discussion while the experience of the other interviewers hasn't come up. I'm not accusing anyone of anything, but I think it's at least worth recognizing that this is very trend - to assume that men are qualified for the job they're doing while it has to be proven that women are qualified for the job they're doing, especially in gaming.

I actually wasn't just talking about female game journalists though. Just because I said I don't like the way people press to remove male leaders from the game regardless of whether they are most suitable doesn't mean I have a distrust of women! I definitely think that if a female leader seems most suitable, that she should definitely be in the game over a man, like in the case of Boudica or in the case of Maria Theresa. Also, there are some civilizations with female rulers that I think should also be in the game, e.g. Zenobia of Palymara.

Dunno if anyone mentioned this but one of the policy cards mentions "Recon units."

Sounds like we finally have a scout upgrade path.
