Tambien
Theseus, Duke of Athens
Taken from the sidebar of www.reddit.com/r/Civcraft, this is how the server describes itself.
Basically, Civcraft is an experiment of a Minecraft server in which admins do not intervene in olayer's affairs, and the only rule is "No cheating" (modifying your client to give you inherent advantage, such as using nodus or x-ray).
It also operates using a variety of server plugins, such as the ones addressed here that promote the building of communities and allow people to defend themselves from "criminals" such as griefers without mod interference.
Many different ideologies have risen in many different cities across the server, from anarchism to authoritarianism, democracy to kingdom to dictatorship.
The map is not meant to get reset, and before the admin team's collective hands were forced by a series of unfortunate events, the map of Civcraft was not only littered with vibrant communities but also the ruins of ages past, from the Lazulian Empire to the Columbian Republic. The server had suffered a major war when a group of people from HCFactions came and invaded, crushing most resistance and leading a month long reign of terror throughout most of the densely inhabited quadrants.
Much of this history can be viewed by looking through the wiki, and while its far from complete, it tells an amazing story.
Really, Civcraft is like Civilization on a smaller scale, where you don't just get a settler or a great person to magically build cities, corporations, and works of art- you yourself make your own cities and riches, and will be the ultimate cause of either its success or failure.
To finish it off, here is a trailer that was made for Civcraft during 1.0. I quite like it.
Trailer.

So, what are your thoughts on this server? Does it sound like fun? If you played, what kind of ideology would you look for (that's the second most important question)?
And, most importantly, do you think you'd play?
Civcraft is an experiment for communities, political ideologies, debate and discussion. Our backstory is based on history, not fiction. Were forming a new direction for game-play, not just about surviving the elements, but about surviving each other, where players can work together to create and shape civilization or to watch it crumble. A world open to any idea, manifesto or philosophy, created by the players. We hope to push minecraft to its fullest potential in order to foster discussion, experimentation and community building. This is the great pastime and challenge of mankind: Civilization.
