Civfanatics Survivor Challenge

I kinda get it now. Lemme get this straight: You get one immunity vote for yourself to use, but once you use it it's gone. You want to only really use it if you think you are definitely going to be voted out. Otherwise, you just vote normally. Now, my question is, what if an alliance votes for one person, but they declared immunity? Will you know before you vote or after and then you have to change your vote?

No one will know who has declared immunity unless it actually saves them from getting voted off the island.

If so, I'll let everyone know in my vote report.

Then the person with the NEXT highest number of votes is voted off... (assuming they have not declared immunity as well.)

If this results in a tie, we'll have a run-off vote to determine who is evicted.

Here's an example.

And alliance of A, B, C and D conspires to vote E off.

E has an alliance with F and G.

A, B, C and D vote "E."

E, F and G vote "D," and E declares immunity. D does not.

E has the most votes, but I announce that E is immune this round.

D has the second most votes and did not declare immunity and so, D is evicted!

That really clears it all up for me. :) Thanks, Mojotronica.

ALL --

Keep in mind that we still have ONE IMMUNITY CHALLENGE LEFT. Please select a weapon (Sling, Spear or Shield) for today's challenge.

Tomorrow today's losing tribe will vote off a member, THEN the tribes will merge.

I can't account for DARKSHADE's lack of weapons submissions for the final Immunity Challenge, but perhaps it's part of their strategy.

At any rate, DARKSHADE must vote at tribal council -- votes are due 14-October 15:00 GMT (10AM East-USA.)

Tomorrow we won't have an immunity challenge -- after DARKSHADE's vote, the tribes will be officially merged.

Then starting 15-October you will vote every day by 15:00 GMT (10AM East-USA) but your vote can be for anyone (other than yourself) going forward.

CivCube wounded Xen
Alex the Great wounded Sysyphus
Archer_007 wounded Plexus
Sysyphus wounded Inter32
Inter32 wounded CivCube
Alex the Great wounded Archer_007

Alex the Great and Superevie were unscathed.

Go Superevie! It's your birthday! It's your birthday! :D We won Sibling! Yay! And I got out unscathed...

ack! not the best performence on my part, but I still cant belive tribe sibling won! (though now it dosent matter, as we will soon all be one big "happy" ;) tribe :p)

Ask him to post his okay in the thread, but don't ask him until you are all agreed that you want to use his name.
Feel free to use it. I'll be honored. :egypt:

The votes have been tallied for DARKSHADE's final tribal council and the results are inconclusive.

SeleucusNicator voted for Tonberry
Tonberry voted for Benderino
Octavian X voted for SeleucusNicator
Archer_007 didn't cast a vote
Benderino didn't cast a vote
CivCube didn't cast a vote
Sysyphus didn't cast a vote
Wildfire didn't cast a vote

We'll have to hold a run-off vote to determine who is exiled.

The run-off vote will be tallied tomorrow (15-Oct) at 15:00 GMT (10AM East-USA.)

For purposes of this vote, your only options are BENDERINO, SELEUCUSNICATOR and TONBERRY. All others are safe for this round, and have survived to make the merger.

I absolutely need Benderino, SeleucusNicator and Tonberry to vote in this run-off, because for purposes of reconciling a tie, I need each of them to submit a secret number between 1 and 100 with their PM'd vote. Failure to do so means they'll be ineligible for the random number tiebreaker (if it comes to that) and automatically eliminated at that point.

Those who HAVE voted, may change their votes, but if they choose not to submit a run-off vote the regular tribal council vote stands.

e.g. If Octavian X doesn't vote in the run-off, his vote against SeleucusNicator in this round carries over.

For purposes of tallying your past vote history totals (which is a factor in determining tiebreakers) the run-off vote is considered final.

Now that the Immunity Challenges are over, I've compiled some statistics on your group and individual performances.

I'll hold off on posting individual participation statistics until after DARKSHADE's run-off vote, but here is an analysis of the tribal partication in each Immunity Challenge round:

Round 1
DARKSHADE 88.9%
Victory by numerical superiority
SIBLING 66.6%

This battle went about as I would've expected given DARKSHADE's advantage in number of participants. SIBLING did slightly better in terms of tactics, but was strategically overwhelmed.

Round 2
DARKSHADE 87.5%
Victory by elimination
SIBLING 62.5%

A rout -- not only did DARKSHADE field superior numbers, they did much better in tactical weapon selection. SIBLING was outpersoned and outclassed.

Round 3
DARKSHADE 100%
Victory by elimination
SIBLING 71.4%

This battle was close. Despite SIBLING's numerical disadvantage, they chose their weapons well and very nearly pulled off a tie game. One more player would have made all the difference in this round.

Round 4
SIBLING 83.3%
Victory by chance
DARKSHADE 100%

SIBLING managed to overcome DARKSHADE's numerical advantage in this battle and pulled off a victory by chance. SIBLING's weapon choices were simply more effective than DARKSHADE's.

Round 5
DARKSHADE 100%
Victory by chance
SIBLING 83.3%

SIBLING almost did it again here. They chose their weapons better, but DARKSHADE won the coin toss.

Round 6
SIBLING 100%
Victory by elimination
DARKSHADE 60%

In this battle DARKSHADE was slightly more effective than SIBLING tactically, but could not overcome SIBLING's 40% advantage in numbers.

I determined percentages by dividing maximum possible participation into actual participation, and capping the total at 100%. The winner of each round is on top, and in boldface. The means of victory is listed for each round.

As you can see, victory was almost always determined by participation, but a weapons selection advantage can overcome a gap in participation. Looks like a 20% disparity is tolerable -- much more than that is overwhelming.

In general, SIBLING did better in terms of weapons selection, but DARKSHADE's more consistant participation gave them the strategic edge.

Each Weapon of Choice used in the Civfanatics Survivor Challenge each has symbolic significance (in Civilizational terms.)

The Sling, with it's bullet of Stone, represents the prehistoric, pre-agricultural Stone Age.

The Shield, made of Wood and with it's wooden club represents the dawn of the Agricultural Age.

The Spear, with it's Bronze head represents the dawning of the Bronze Age.

Note that each weapon is vulnerable to it's successor in the ages of Civilizational development, but the relatively high-tech Spear's vulnerability to the simple Sling represents that even the most powerful of perceived advantages is an illusion.

Plus it's payback for all those Tanks I've lost to Spearmen over the years...

NAME = Player name

PARTICIPATION% = Percentage of Immunity Challenges the player submitted a weapon in -- it's their possible total divided by their actual total
e.g. Perfection was voted out after the first challenge, which he participated in. Not having the chance to participate in subsequent challenges, his total is one possible, divided by one actual, for a 100% participation

TRIBE = Player's tribe

PREFFERED_WEAPON = The weapon they chose most often throughout the game. In the event they selected two or more weapons equally, I categorized them as "Balanced" and listed the weapons in parentheses
e.g. CivCube chose Sling twice, Spear twice and Shield twice -- he's has no weapon preference, and is therefore a Balanced weapon selector

SMOTES = Number of times they wounded an opponent in the (completely inconsequential) "Who Smote Whom?" report. I determined this by earliest weapon of choice submission, so players who got their choice to me early did better than players who submitted their choice later. It didn't affect the outcome of the rounds, but I used this to factor to try to make the battle sequences more vivid for you. In cases where battles were won by overcoming an equally equipped opponent, I assigned the hit using the same order of submission criteria

TARGETS = Complete listing of the rivals who were wounded by the player, per the "Who Smote Whom?" report

The chart is sorted by PARTICIPATION% and then by SMOTES.

Using this information and your Avatars, I could produce spiffy-looking Civfanatics Survivor trading cards, including virtual bubble gum. :)

The run-off votes have been tallied, and the tribal council is resolved.

Benderino didn't cast a vote.
Octavian X voted for SeleucusNicator
SeleucusNicator voted for Tonberry
Tonberry voted for SeleucusNicator
CivCube voted for Tonberry
Sysyphus voted for SeleucusNicator
Archer_007 voted for Tonberry
Wildfire voted for SeleucusNicator

The tribe has spoken. SELEUCUSNICATOR must leave the island immediately.

As always, his closing statement is encouraged.

Today is the day that the two tribes merge -- into the triumphant Tribe THUNDERFALL!

THUNDERFALL's members are:
Alex the Great
Archer_007
Benderino
CivCube
Inter32
Octavian X
Plexus
Superevie
Sysyphus
Tonberry
Wildfire
Xen

Going forward, the game gets simpler -- just one vote a day, tallied at 10AM East-USA (15:00 GMT.) The next one is due 16-Oct. You can vote for anyone you want. I appreciate it when you vote early, but don't let that hamper your strategy.

1) Form alliances for mutual protection. Don't be afraid to cross old tribal lines. The old tribes no longer exist.

2) Each of you has one immunity declaration that you submit in secret with your vote. You can only use it once, so don't squander it. On the other hand, don't let yourself get voted out because you are afraid to use it. Above all, if you've used it -- DON'T TELL ANYONE. There is strength in the THREAT that you could use it.

3) Have fun!
