It saddens me to say this, but the civ2-community here is not what it used to be. I remember the old days when everyone was here. Now everybody has moved to CDG or Apolyton. The once highly active PBEM section are now completely eradicated :(

Anyway, CivFanatics still has the biggest collection of CivII scenarios around. I would like to see it continue that way, but all Thunderfall seems to be publishing is civIII stuff at the main page. I've PMed him three times with three new scenarios.

First I PMed him with a subscription for Blitzkrieg 1942 - The last chapter : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=89847

Then with Blitzkrieg 1936 v.2 : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=92822

And now with La Belle Epoque : http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=95407

Never heard anything...

The last one I sent today, so I don't expect much at once. But still, it's not good. Something needs to be done. I never got a chance to use the Civ II subscription thread Thunderfall made before he deleted it, because 'no one was using it'. Personally I would like to see it relived. :)

This criticism is all ment in a good way. It needs to be said to keep the little steam that is left in the civ2-communinty at CFC alive, in a civ3 dominated world :suicide:

It's better to submit files via email instead of PMs, because I delete all my PMs every two weeks.

In my email program, I have a Civ2 Files folder where I put all the Civ2 file submission emails. It serves as a reminder that I need to add those files. When emailing me, you can include the same message as in your PM w/o attaching the files and I will get the files from the thread. You don't need to email me about those files you already PMed me about -- I'm just letting you know that email is a better way for future submissions.

I hardly receive any Civ2 submissions nowdays. Yours and two other graphics files are the only ones in the last two months....

I will add all of them to the collection tonight. :)

Keep the submission coming. While I no longer add them as quickly as in the past, I will add them eventually (quicker with reminders). :p

Well, I've played all of your Blitzkrieg scenarios Eivind IV and even recommended them to a few friends who still play civ2. I even managed to get a friend to reinstall his copy of civ2 MGE after I showed him some of the newer scenarios like Dictator 4, Star Wars Insurrection, and Blitzkrieg 1942. I think a lot of people still download scenarios. :)

I once sent some terrain bmp's to CFC, in a zip file (with readme) via Email, but nothing ever happened. No response. I checked the addons page, but it wasn't there.

At this stage I am mainly interested in adding more sophisticated Civ2 files. You don't know how many very basic Civ2 scenarios I received -- scenarios that contain no new units, sound, graphics, events, or even a ReadMe file. Those 20 KB files don't really make me want to post an annoucement about them on the main page. Civ2 came out 8 years ago and people expect to see more sophisticated creations than that.

Rest assure I will continue to post announcement for higher quality Civ2 files, just like in the past.

I most likely will update the Civ2 downloads collection update again this weekend. If you have released a scenario/update in the forum since the last update, let me know and I will include it in the announcement.

I can understand you dont like putting poor scenarios in the downloads section. But if someone sends in a really good terrain or units file they should be put into the downloads section.

Yeah but it could be a pain looking back and back over really old posts for a particular unit but it would be much easier just to look in the downloads section for particular units and people who are new to Civ2 dont always look in the forums.

Spent to much time thinking, in fact the last 24 years,

I don't what every one is worried about. This game will soon be Civ 4 and hopefully Sid will begin porting it to Sim City where we can have a real governor. Even being paid to do it to manage our cities, along with people doing jobs in the sims as people thinking they have areal life there. The day will come where there will be a person making more money living here in cyberworld than the most dominant player in any sport. The game will evolve to every person playing the same game, as life ,because the games will all be linked. Sid has a plan; people, job, city, priority for people and who can be the best God.
Once the community has a few million people, and we have the families, it can be a real payoff to the end. The Sim players can actually ,make a living just playiing the game because he is a superiior citizen.
Imagine 20.000.000 people playing integrated in Sid's world. $! per day per any person showing up for 1 hour and encouraged to play more, but $1/day contributing to the empire. AND I THINK IT WILL BE MORE because the SIM players will actually get paid.. 20M players* 1 hour per day playing 3/4 of the time is up around, depending at how you look at it, yes, over a plenty of billions.
What I am talking about is the integrrtion of CIV, CIM CITY (for the governor) and the sims being paid actuual salaries. Of course, it will bbe like real life and the Sims will have the best time and even VOTE on a leader. Incorporated in this game will be ALL the best WAR units. The country will support them and battle will ensue. Vegas can place betting lines on the generals that make it to that grade. I have a feeling it will be very hard for those battl;e leaders after awhile, especially under the spotlight. The best part is that over time the Sims will realize that supporting the individual nieghborhoods and working towards country with the leader pays off. Whoops, I am an American and forgot that every other person not from here considers us lazy.

Guess what foreigners will think they can always win. We are America. Een the MArines overseas will be in on this. We can handle the world and win the virtual world.
Sid, I know programmers and I have written about this before. I thought I was going to pull it off as an 8 year old knowing Eugene Saber of IBM but I lost the bet in Scrabble when he put down trinken and said it means drinkin, took the score and walked away looking at his library. For those of you out there I am looking forward to game integration conquering the world. It is already ahead of all of Hollywood by a bunch. I feel like a civil rights leader because Sir Pleb should be showcased on television. Well, once it is all integrated. Are there any programmers out there that can integrate battle results from a few applications and incorporate them into a SIM, CITY, CIV game.

Oh wait| Hey Sid. I saw it too. I have spoken my peace and it's a go. Humans are humans. What are supposed to do. It will happen. Gov't may try to hamper integration due to political factors but whether it's from the originators that know where it should go or foreigeners it will happen. Maybe more time but do not be surprised. 6 months at that type of cash paying out more than any lotto and whipping any other companies earnings will turn heads.

BTW - 20M is small for a game that can integrate and pay appropriate salaries for great citiizens in prosperous countries.

PS - To all who get this far in my message. This video game question has tormented me since a bad trip in 1981. I think I know where, if games pay a living, the current generation of slackers have a chance at making a living. In fact if Sid can get it to 50.000,000 citizens vying for a place in life. (VOIP is coming) It won't be long the world will have to look at itself.
Too much beer again, and thinking about a world that will still have beer. Games don't

CivII community at CivFan is going down the drain...
I agree :(
Shouts: Is anyone out there?!!! :aargh:

Yer everyone seems to have gone to Apolyton. Ive had a look there and I must say that Im thinking of moving threre. No ones really goes here anymore. Wheres at Apolyton theyve got loads of people regularly posting and lots of talented scenario makers and unit designers. At CFC weve only really got one talented unit designer in Drug but other than that theres really not alot else here. The problem is if your going to make a scenario where are you going to go and get help, you have a choice out of CDG,Apoly and CFC and at the minute CFC seems the most unlikely choice weve got hardly any unit designers and only a couple of people are experinced with making scenarios who could help. The last good scenario I can remember been finished here was Kobys Stargate one and that was a while a go.

Well I have 3 unfinished scenarios, but after what I've read I'll probably go to Apolyton...
I could work with anyone on CFC if they are interested.

I'm always here to offer help in any way. I'll be sure to check out the scenario creation forum more frequently :)

Off the record; if any of you guys are interested in playing fast moving pbems with reliable players, you should check out cdg.

Yer it would be good if you could vist the scenario creation forum more frequently as weve not really got alot going on at the minute. Maybe you could post some of your units and scenarios here and get others to do likewise.Ive been on CDG It looked pretty good but I cant say Im to Interested in playing PBEM at the moment I did it a bit in the summer and it was quite good but I dont really feel like playing any at the moment I might join one in the Christmas holiday though.
