Civilization IV in Catalan

Wow! A spaniard! I've got to answer, there's no other choice.

ayyy los catalanes, el catalán y vuestra política linguística....siempre quereís estar en todo no? (Es una broma para los españoles [pocos] que estemos en el juego jajaja)

Hehehehe

Actually the madrileños and other spaniards l found in the gaming community are not like many others spaniards you can find out there, who always speak about politics and even insult catalans (or basques) when this topic comes to their mind.

Looks like spanish gamers are immunte to this on-line political crap. I don't know why but it is so. So there's no reason to explain that it was just a joke, I already understood that ;)

BTW, a rule in this forum says that you may write in other languages as long as you always provide a translation for the mods.

I agree with you Catalán is not a dialect, it's a common mistake that people do. It's a language with it's own grammar and Academia like the english or the spanish, the problem is that it's widely less spoken than those two.

You and I know quite well that this is a malicious "mistake" spread by... well, that kind of people.

BTW, English has not a language academy like the RAE and the Catalan academy (the IEC) is not so decisive like other organizations like Termcat, IVL, IRL, ÒC or GrEC. Actually, the organization of catalan language looks like a confederation of organizations, where the last word is always said by the IEC.

I just wanted to point this because it's a common mistake of spanish speakers to think that the other languages have the same kind of organization that their language has.

Secondly, It's really good that the second language spoken in Spain becomes popular in the gaming world. I don't see the problem of making a translation in Catalan to promote the players of Catalunya Country to play a lot of games. I'll like to congratulate ganglieri2001 for his translation, as a Spaniard.

Thanks for the congratulations. It was literally a pain in the ass. Sometimes my ass hurt after sitting so many hours before the computer in order to translate it.

But... Wait a minute! Did you write "Catalunya"? Did you say that catalonia is a country? WTH! It's always pleasure to speak with spaniards like you, who respect the will of catalans to become independent or being recognized as a nation and so, but writing Catalunya and saying that Catalunya is a country can bring you many troubles with Fedeguico & his friends

Be cautious ;)

I have downladed the Catalan mod today. I like to play in Catalan because is my language. This is enough to understand it.

Endavant amb les versions en català!

:bump:

The "default" mod American Revolution translated into Catalan is now available.

Hmm, maybe I'll use this if I ever play as Aquitaine in Charlemange, if a BtS version comes out :P I didn't know Catalan was widely spoken, and thought that it was a southern French language obsoleted by the nationalization of Parisien. I can understand I guess, based on the screenies, just as easily as I do French but that might be because it's my second language...
If you need to ask what my first language is, you're a silly chap.

Edit - I have no idea what Endavant amb means... to me, it looks Franglish for End Before automegabike...

Very interesting about Catalan, nationalism and politics. I looked at a map are most Catalan speakers now in Catalonia? Based on maps I've see of langues de oui, I figure it is more spread out than that...However, creating a Civ4 Civ with a leader, UU and UB would be interesting...

Looks like someone was misinformed.

Endavant = go ahead (literally forward)
amb = with

So its translation is "go ahead with" (literally "forward with") or just "carry on". If you can tell me where did you see this, I could provide you a better translation than this.

That's already available here (Vanilla only).

Just the opposite of the catalan gaming community, I guess then, because they never miss an opportunity to start nationalist flames and call non-catalan (and non-basque) spaniards fascists and oppressors.

When, in fact, they consider, for example, andalusian spaniards nothing more than sloths and parasites, and that's a real fascist attitude. Also, all I have encountered admire and support a proto-dictator as is Hugo Chavez and a dictator as is Castro; for another example. Hey, I even encountered some who declare themselves stalinists.

I guess also that they need to live in Bielorussia or North Korea to know what means "oppression" really, and not their childish crying.

You raised it, man. Expect some answers you don't like that tell the other part of the tale.

It must be the fact that we think that we're invisible outside the iberian peninsula. That's why we always do this: to tell the world "HEY! WE'RE HERE!"

When, in fact, they consider, for example, andalusian spaniards nothing more than sloths and parasites, and that's a real fascist attitude.

Where are you from?

Well, then I've got to tell you that there're also liberals (meaning classic liberals) in this gaming community, i. e., ME.

I guess also that they need to live in Bielorussia or North Korea to know what means "oppression" really, and not their childish crying.

Totally agree: these commies are a bunch of nothing-doing whiners and retards. But if we want to be independent, we need everybody.

You raised it, man. Expect some answers you don't like that tell the other part of the tale.

What other part of the tale are you talking about? Maybe the part that says that you are misinformed on this topic?

BTW, no more politics in this thread, please.

Good job! I'm going to download it right now.

I've been reading this forums for a long time and today I've entered looking for some information about Colonization. I've found this and registered now to congratulate.

I'm looking fordward for your audio ...

"De puta mare"! (aproximately meaning "great stuff")
I live 5km away from gangleri (in Palau-Solità i Plegamans) and maybe this mod will help me improve my (poor) Catalan the same way Civilization 1 helped me improve my English as a child. BTW, does this work with RFC?
Oh, and is there an off topic thread on Catalanism anywhere?

How interesting! I study the Spanish Civil War, and am a Libertarian Socialist myself. Glad to see it's been translated. Now, can you get us a Durruti Leaderhead? :)

I'll settle for Diego Abad de Santillan :)

Democratically elected leaders are not Dictators if there are many international observers that uphold the elections.

Stalinists? Buhahahaha :crazyeye:

Durruti? Why? He has nothing to do with Catalan translation of the game but with a SCW mod.

Hi first of all thanks for your job!!

Now I'd like to use the translation for BTS but the stuff not translated appears in italian do you know if there's a way to put the non translated stuff in English or Spanish??

Good year and thank you again (Moltes gràcies i bon any nou :)
