What so complicated? Its basically a promotion giving you +1 movement, Like with the Shoshone UU.

(I'm sooo going to regret this)

Loathe as I am to admit it, Natan's not wrong. Basically, the Silahdar has 2 base Movement and a +1 Movement Promotion, giving a total Movement of 3. The +1 Movement promotion carries over upon upgrading, giving the resultant Landship a total of 5 Movement rather than 4.

However, I'd be more than willing to concoct a Balochi UU based upon their alleged prominence as mercenaries in Arabian Africa. If someone can link me to some creditable sources, I'd be happy to oblige you all. =]

Ahh its a promotion, still I just wish you mentioned it was a Promotion, then its pretty good without a problem.

Weren't the Balochi famous for working as mercenaries in Arabian Africa?

I would have worked off that for the UU.

The Balochi were famous for being mercenaries for any one. And their homeland, Baluchistan is infamously none as a place of violence and tribalism. Even today it's pretty bad.

Yes. I know it's known as a place of violence today. I know about the Balochi nationalists that have been kicking around since the Fifties and Eastern Balochistan's accession to Pakistan. That's the problem. I was trying to go a bit further back than that, and hopefully get a decent Lancer/Cavalry UU out of it - Balochi horses are, while slightly obscure these days, much prized.

@Spaghetti Hoops: Thanks so much! I've had a look through them and this is what I came up with:-

UU: Nangari (replaces Landsknecht)
Retains all the usual bonuses of the Landsknecht it replaces. However, it is otherwise radically different; it counts as a Mounted Unit, requires Horses, has a base movement of 2 (along with a +1 Movement Promotion, meaning it has a total movement of 3), and starts with the unique promotion "Ya'rubi Shurat" that grants a scaling :c5strength: Combat Bonus the closer it is to an enemy City. Upgrades to Cavalry.

Hopefully this is more like it. I wanted to retain that feeling of Balochi horsemanship, even though the Nangari Baluchi were generally used as footsoldiers by their Omani employers, but if push comes to shove I can always just amend the UA. Whatcha think? =]

Does the bonus come instead of a penalty against cities? Or is the bonus only effective against units?

(I come in peace, don't cut me in a half)

What... What you mean his leader? His leader is a fat bird from Thanet, no?

kerrigan, I don't think you have noticed but you can't request who makes the mod. Only a mod, and oftentimes you might have to provide a design.

If you do a mod yourself, that is.

How are either of those plot twists? :p JFD himself once said, "Modders are machines fated to serve your every will and desire as to creating the mods you want. They have no feelings. They have no lives. They are not real. Do not be deceived."

And let's be honest here: Does anyone really believe a human being could make mods as well as JDF does?
