Civilization Request Thread

Hello. At first, I'm from Ukraine and my English is not very good so sorry for that.
I dunno if it was requested before. Sorry for that too.
Here is my idea for a nice Ukrainian civ for Civ 5
Name: Ukrainian Hetmanate
Leader: Bogdan Khmelnitsky or Ivan Mazepa
UA: Cossack Freemen (Overland units' maintenanse сosts 25% less. Overland units already have Sentry promotion. +50% Horse, Iron and Сoal resourses.
UU: Zaporozhian Cossack(Cavalry). Have +2 Power, +1 Movement and +75% bonus againt horsed units.
UB: Sich(Barracks). Like barracks, give +15 EX, but do not require money and give +1 Production for every Farm of Pasture prosessed by the city.
For discussion write me at the iloveasoiaf@rambler.ru

Ласкаво просимо! (Greetings!)

The Hetmanate was already created by LastSword, as part of his Set I, available at http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=181458959.

So, recently I was asked to analyse someone's design for a Teutonic Order Civ. It was... not how I would have done it. This, on the other hand, is:-

---

The Teutonic Order (Hermann von Salza) (who goes lovely with Hermann von Doritos)
Start Bias: Coastal
Capital: :c5capital: Marienburg
UA: Helfen, Wehren, Heilen
Generate +1 :c5faith: Faith in the Capital every time you purchase a Unit, Building, or Great Person with :c5faith: Faith. The :c5faith: Faith output of a City is doubled for ten turns upon the construction of a Mounted or Armoured Unit.
UB: Ordensburg (replaces Castle)
In addition to the standard Castle bonuses, the Ordensburg grants +15 Experience to Mounted Units and grants them the unique promotion "Prussian Crusaders", allowing them to increase the religious pressure of a religion you founded in a City by 50% when garrisoned inside it.
UU: Ritterbrudern (replaces Knight)
Not only is the Ritterbrudern faster than the Knight it replaces, with five base Movement, it is also far stronger on the attack. It begins with Charge and a unique promotion, "Muster The Hufen", which grants it a +50% :c5strength: Combat Bonus when attacking in enemy territory if the target unit does not share your religion. While more expensive than a knight, it is 50% cheaper to buy with :c5faith: Faith. Upgrades to Cavalry as normal. Requires Horses.

Whatcha think? =]

Greate idea! It would be nice to play this civ I think

That 50% discount... Its OP.
(Especially considering the unit's prerequisite tech)

with faith, though?
you'd need to pick a specific belief, else you wouldn't even get to use the main point of the civ!

I play with the piety mod, which grants the ability to purchase pre Renaissance units with faith as long as you have a follower belief.

It looks nice :) much more unique than mine was

Thank you all for your comments! They help to make me suck less. =]

Natan's right, though (that's three times now; the end times are upon us.): the major balancing factor to this Civ is that I render it necessary to select Holy Warriors to get the most out of it. While I accept this is not, y'know, super applicable to people with P&P, I prefer to balance for vanilla rather than specific mods? Except when one balances for, say, the Horn of Africa. =]

I'm going to ignore the first part of your comment... Except the =]. =-)

I would play with that civ too even with P&P, just because I love OP things, like using only one cannon with the Zulus...

Would be nice if modders did more wonder focused civs, BTW.

How about a civilization that always finishes wonders 1 turn before another empire would?

I'm a P&P addict, remember? :p

TIME FOR SOME FUN GEOGRAPHICAL HOLLAND SPLITS
This time, something a little bit different. Rather than going for a physical country...
Limburg (Henry I)
Start Bias: Hills
Capital: Maastricht
UA: Lands of the Overmaas
Rivers produce +1 commerce. Units have no movement cost through hills.
UI: Abbey. The Abbey can only be built on hills. It produces +1 faith if worked by a city.
UU: Bokkenrijder (Replaces Cavalry). Costs 50% less than a standard cavalry unit, but cannot be bought with gold or faith. Starts with the fear promotion and does not lose movement points while pillaging.

In Moriboe's thread there are quite a few interesting designs for various Low Countries splits, if you are interested, not sure if Moriboe is currently working on them however.

In regards to Limburg, the Abbey could probably see a buff of some description. Most UIs tend to add more than just one additional yield, either through greater yields or unique effects.

TS is right: the Abbey seems really weak in comparison to other UIs like Polders and Brazilwood Camps. Here's my take on it:-

---

Limburg (Henry IV)
Start Bias: Hills
Capital: :c5capital: Limbourg (which was, y'know, the actual capital)
UA: Lands Of The Overmaas
Units receive double movement and a :c5strength: Combat Bonus while defending on Hill tiles. :c5culture: Social Policies and Ideological Tenets increase a base yield in the :c5capital: Capital by +1, depending on the Ideology and Social Policy Tree.1
UU: Piekdrager (replaces Longswordsman)
Unlike the Longswordsman it replaces, the Piekdrager is a formidable defensive line, gaining a +15% :c5strength: Combat Bonus while Defending for each adjacent Limburger unit. It also starts with the unique promotion "Worringen Remembered", which grants it the ability to generate 1 :c5culture: Culture for every 3 damage it takes from an enemy attack, and Medic I. Upgrades as normal. Requires Iron.
UI: Kaasboer (All new!)
Aviable at Civil Service. Must be built on a River Tile. +2 :c5gold: Gold, +2 :c5culture: Culture. +1 :c5food: Food every time you advance to a new Era.

---

1: Those bonuses are as follows:-
Tradition: +2% :c5food: Growth per Policy
Liberty: +5% :c5greatperson: Great People generation rate per Policy
Honour: +4% :c5production: Land Unit Production bonus per Policy
Piety: +1 :c5faith: Faith and +5% Religious Pressure per Policy
Patronage: +2 additional Influence from Military Unit and Gold Gifts per Policy
Aesthetics: +5% :tourism: Tourism bonus per Policy
Commerce: +1 and +6.67% :c5gold: Gold per Policy (caps at 33%)
Exploration: +5% :c5production: Naval Unit Production bonus per Policy
Rationalism: +1 and +5% :c5science: Science per Policy
Freedom: +1 :c5culture: Culture and +2% :c5greatperson: Great People generation rate per Tenet
Order: +1 :c5production: Production per Tenet
Autocracy: +5% additional Experience from Combat per Tenet

---

So, those were my slightly tired thoughts. Whatcha think? =]
