Civilization Request Thread

The problem with a leader based civ is that since most people have a rather short life compared to the timeframe of civ 5, you will end up with one time period in which you are best in, which I'm not a fan of. If that time period is too early, then you feel rushed to capatalize on it, but if it's too late, then it usually won't make much of a difference since you will probably already be dominant by endgame.

Not really. JFD has few to no designs that are very one-dimensional. They get stronger during certain eras, surely (Prussia excels at Industrial Era warfare but can fight at any time and Roosevelt only has his uniques come up in the Industrial and Modern Eras, but his ability can help him a lot). But most of the time normal Civs have a powerspike. England from Medieval to Industrial is a powerhouse, wrecking everything on its path. Egypt has its uniques help a lot in the early game and fall off in the late game a bit, similar with Rome and Greece. But none of them are useless past that point.

Stuff for fun pretty much...

Dont get indirect fire for a rifleman replacement.... Its a melee unit, no?

Yeah, but he didn't say its a ranged unit though... Besides, thee aren't really two tile ranged units this late on the game, so that would be *kinda* OP.

Yeah, because there are three tiles ranged units.

They are weak on melee and the artillery need to set up to attack tho. But even so, the artillery do is laughably OP and shouldn't be used as balance reference. If the game has not already ended by the time you get them you can just quit anyway, because you've own. (Unless you are playing MP) :p

Actually the UU was supposed to be something different and it seems in the whole copying ans pasting fiasco and lack of concentration kicked in, either way its changed now.

You people who can capitalize on the early game too much...

The late game's just as winnable if you play your cards right and follow a plan. I can see someone launch the goddamn Apollo Program while I'm still on my way to Sattelites, and I won't bat an eye.

The game only ends when someone becomes Influential over everyone, gets voted World Congress Leader, finishes the Spaceship or conquers everyone.

Until then, the game is still open. You just need to buy yourself enough time to win if you're behind. And that's really easy to do.

What? No you got me wrong, I'm saying that CIV5 is too damn easy and you can quickly win the game by domination before even getting Artillery, so by the time you get Artys, you basically already won the game because it's so insanely easy to wage war against the AI.

Yeah... I'm not good with Domination Victories, that's why I never count them in for me.

It feels weird to always be the one guy that goes "well you still can win if you're better at diplomacy against the AI than fighting them..."

Firebug already made one.

No, no and no.

Nah unfortunately, though I'd really love an Atlee civ - given how overlooked he seems to be historically (the issue with following Churchill, I guess). He seems to have been one of the leaders who domestically defined the United Kingdom in a post war world, so an all around cool guy.

Also; Atlee stronk, remove Thatcher she is of worst Tory.

Ahem. I think both Thatcher and Atlee make convincing cases for civs, I'd be a tad more hesitant with Blair though, both because he's still alive and kicking and because I cannot really think of anything to give him for uniques.

Cue the retort of "7-1", "boludo", and "brasileños de mierda".

And also some comment about the Tec-9.
