Civilization Request Thread

So I'm back from the dead to bring you, not my William Wallace civ idea! (Finding stuff about him and his army is hard.) But to bring you my Eureka Rebellion idea! (This should be easier to create as well. If I didn't have problems with ModBuddy that is.)

Any way here it is. It's not finished though. So suggestions are welcomed!

Capital
Ballarat

This of course!

Don't know what I want here.
I like the idea about always having a source
of gold in the capital, since these guys are gold miners.

UU

Weaker than normal rifleman
but gains 'Eureka Oath' promotion
which buffs nearby player owned units
combat strenght by 5%

UB

Same effects as a wall
+2 culture initially and +2 tourism
upon entering the modern age
all units in or a tile away from
a city with a stockade in it gains
5% defensive bonus

It was mostly due to your name, but yeah.

Creating Civs isn't that hard, but it does take a while to get used to. Although Splatoon Civs would be nifty.

YOU'RE A KID NOW YOU'RE A SQUID NOW

Sorry to intrude but what the hell is Splatoon exactly? (I live in a rock known as Civ 5, DOOM, GTA, and CS:GO or SSIV and SSB4)

EDIT: (AND Mugen as well as TF2 as well as SMITE I'm just addicted to my PC)

Nintendo's own Third Person Shooter that revolves around shooting ink to cover a certain area.

It's really fun.

ayyyy, that game is too damn fun.

I guess a Splatoon civ could make use of the Canada-esque (one of LastSword's civs has a similar power) ability of having certain units claim land tiles by painting them or whatever. Beyond that I've got nothing - I'd be interested to see what people come up with though, the game looks crazy as hell.

Splatoon is a Nintendo game released on the Wii U. Splatoon itself is a game mainly focused on its multiplayer where teams of 4 fight on another on various maps and use Ink as ammunition, game modes include: Turf War, Splat Zones, Tower Control, and Rainmaker.

Splatoon also has a single player mode that has surprisingly amount of lore about the setting. The story is that a race known as the Octarians, losers of a war known as the Great Turf War and the ones dealing with a power crisis, want revenge and steals Zapfish, A major source of power in the game, in order to revive the Great Octoweapons which were used in the Great Turf War but the lack of a power source left them useless. The goal of the player character, known ingame as Agent 3, is to go through the homeland of the Octarians, Octo Valley, and destroy the Great Octoweapons before they are released upon the world.

As for the lore of the setting, the world of Splatoon is our world but Mankind was driven to extinction due to rising water levels. Creatures of the sea then evolved and rose from the waters and settled what land remained. The two most important species of the setting are the Inklings and Octarians.

The Inklings are descendants of the Squid, the victors of the Great Turf War, and the race the Player plays as. Inklings have two forms: Humanoid and Squid. In Humanoid form, the Inklings look very similar to Humans besides the hair, which is made of tentacles, the eyes, which have a black outline around them, and the teeth, as Inklings have three fangs to resemble the beak of a Squid. In Squid form, Inklings become a miniature and cartoonish Squid, in Squid form, the player may swim through their Ink, making travel much faster. Inklings are the most common race on the surface.

The Octarians are descendants of the Octopus, the losers of the Great Turf War, and the main antagonists of the game. The Octarians come in a variety of forms, the most common resembling either living tentacles or humanoid Octopuses, much like the Inklings with Squids, called Octolings who have the same abilities as Inklings.

Other than these two races there are many others. Such as: Sapient Jellyfish, Prawns, Sea Urchins, Gold Fish, and Sea Anemones.

The Great Turf War was a war waged between the Inklings and Octarians for the remaining land on the surface as the sea continue to consume more of it. Before that, the Inklings and Octarians had friendly relations and were very cooperative with one another. At first, it seemed the Octarians would win due to the Hedonism of the Inklings during those times, but then the Inklings got their together and were able to defeat the Octarians in the end. The peace terms were that the Octarians had to cede all the land they control on the surface and be forced underground where they built "Kettles" that were starting to decay during the time the game was set.

Anyways that's the best explanation I could give. I recommend looking at this wiki if you want to know more.

Now I ask you a question. What's Mugen?

Wow thats a lot for a game where you paint the floor I guess... anyways MUGEN is basically a common fighting engine that is EXTREMELY CUSTOMIZABLE. Basically any character whether it be a popular cartoon, video game, or anime it probably exists in MUGEN. All of them have thier own custom movesets each with different moves (two marios may have to radically different movesets suprisingly and focus on different times of marios existence) stages, custom intros, etc. ItS great fun.

ayyyy, that game is too damn fun.
Has a stupid respawn timer though, and I play Odin so people hate me :p

Sounds fun!

On a side note, I usually play Chronos, one of the few I believe.

I don't play MOBAs.

I do play Melee and SSB4, though.

A 20XX Civ would be nifty.

I can see two Civs that could be made: The Inklings and the Octarians.

The Inklings could be made for a cultural or domination victory, with a UA that generates Great Person Points for every unit killed or every city taken. Their UB would be a Turf War Map, a replacement for the Colosseum that gives more happiness and bonus happiness if a military unit is stationed in the city where it was built. Their UU would be Hero Agents that would replace either Great War or regular Infantry that could have increased mobility or possibly "poison" units it attacks for one or more turns, hurting the enemy unit during the turns, much like how you lose health if you are in you enemy's Ink in Splatoon. For leaders, I believe Callie and Marie would be the best choice since they are the closest to government officials in the game.

The Octarians would most likely be fully geared towards a domination victory, with a UA that decreased the maintenance for military units due to the fact that the Octarians lack power and yet have a formidable military. They would have two UAs, the first being Octolings that would replace Great War or regular Infantry like Hero Agents, unlike Hero Agents, Octolings would gain more XP per kill, showing how they are the elites of the Octarian Army. The second would be The Great Octoweapons, which would replace Giant Death Robots, they would have more health than your average Giant Death Robot but also have reduced speed. The leader would definitely be the Octo King, Octavio.

Thoughts?

I'd rather someone played Odin than Ares :p

One of my friends almost exclusively plays Ah Puch as of yet - so I'm aware of how hated you can be. Khepri, Bacchus and Kulkulkan are my personal faves in any case.

I've never played Splatoon - so I have no idea if those UUs are fitting, but they sound well thought out. The only thing that I would say is that GDR UUs are probably bad ideas - given that they are literally one of, if not the last unit that you will ever unlock - meaning the Player doesn't get a lot of time with them. That said, I'm not sure if balance is that big a deal with fictional civs - so perhaps it'd be fine.

Splatoon, eh?

I have of a idea of a Inkling Civ sticking my head for awhile:

Cap'n Cuttlefish (Splatoon)
Leader of the Inklings

UA: Turf War: Units may temporary claim land in neutral or enemy lands. Units gain +10% :c5strength: Combat Strength and +1 :c5moves: Movement within own lands.
UU: Splatoon: Replaces the Infantry. Effects not decided yet.
UB: Jelly Fresh: Replaces the Military Academy. Has the same effect as the Military Academy, plus gives +2 :c5culture: to the City. Units built here will receive special promotions, based on the abilities of Splatoon. Does not need a armory to be built.

As you can tell, it's a really rough draft. And it does sound kinda overpowered a bit, and I can't think of anything for the unique unit.

Like the UB. Though, In game, the UU will be called splatoon splatoon...

Ohhh.
(Also, if you modders want it so badly, why won't yeah start a project?
