Civilization V Announced!

Like saying basketball is male dominant so fem. players should get used to it. Sure men's basketball may always be more popular than women's basketball but I think a more salient point would be that more women play basketball (or Civ) than almost any other game.

This statement is just wrong, since I am a male who enjoys watching women play athletic sports(especially B-Ball) is just plain and simple MORE FUN! More fun than watching men who are to tall for the baskets so that they can just stand there and slam-dunk...

Speak of the devil my friend was just wondering whether a Civ5 would come out soon, I'll have to link this to him as soon as possible.

Ah, but the really important question is: Will I finally be able to have an affair with Cleopatra? Or how about that haughty Queen Isabella? (Sigh.)

If romance isn't already included in ciV, someone should totally mod it in.

edit

Meh, maybe not. But maybe an option to flatter them?

Because they're "expensive." A game that sells for about $30 in Best Buy sells for about $0.70 at Polvos. Prices like that literally drove Blockbuster from Peru and I haven't seen any legitimate video game store (at least in La Molina, Miraflores, San Isidro, San Borja, Surco, or Surquillo, where I've been)

Same in Indonesia
Indonesian won't pay 50$ or so for a game where they could get it just for 4$
And that's why it's so hard to buy an original game here(even amazon doesn't want to deliver it to Indonesia).Sometime as a collector, i really want to have an original game, to have that box, and that manual :p

I would just like to second the comment that civ is one of the few games (3rd place behind facebook apps & sim city) that my female friends like. My point would be that while statistically men are the dominant gamers in video games period, so many women play civ that saying it is male dominant is an unnecessary qualification.

it is good to hear women like it as well, but i doubt what u say because CFC posters are also mostly male. or at least in Turkey it isn't so. although women play video games much here, they don't choose civ.
and i just said it is male-dominant, i didn't say women can't play it. u already mentioned mostly men play civ, i see nothing to discuss here.
this is similar to football, it is male-dominant however many women play it.
There's probably a cultural difference here but I just don't see what this opinion has to do with civ.
BTW, correct me if i'm wrong; i sense an overestimation of Turkish women here in your comments. woman education level is not bad in Turkey and increasing fastly. especially young ladies are doing quite well intellectually. do you confuse them with ladies wearing black chador?

I suspect that many if not most posters at CFC use the game as a vehicle to compete against other humans in some way. Perhaps women who play civ are less likely to be seeking this kind of competition, and thus less likely to appear on the forum? So the gender proportion of forum posters may not reflect the gender proportion of all civ players.

1 guy made a joke that women may not like and i told him "no problem, the game is male-dominant anyway" so this thread just turned to a gender thread.
in this thread, i won't continue this.

I really don't see the "it's expensive" thing as an excuse for theft.

If you're online to post you can most likely shop online and there is most likley an e-tailer for wherever you are.

Even if there isn't, it doesn't excuse theft.

I get so tired of the weak arguments people make for thinking it's ok to steal movies, music, games, etc. There is no excuse for stealing, period.

True, but the Peruvian excuse of "It's not physically possible to acquire legally for stupid reasons" is a better excuse.

Well, I go to great lengths to get legal games. I agree it is theft, and in fact, the Roman Catholic Church considers it so. However, my friend Julio pointed out, "well, the Church was wrong about the Spanish inquisition, so why should we believe it about piracy?" (ignoring the fact that <100 people died in the Spanish inquisition, and that the two are completely unrelated)

Wow! Just wow... I get so tired of people saying something like that living in a welfare state...

i'm not surprised by the fact that there is no welfare state in the countries of thiefs (russia included)
p.s. i had no problem getting Civ4 from amazon in russia. if someone say that he does, he lies.

How is that the same???
There IS NO problem in Russia, not anymore anyways. It's very hard to find pirate copies there now and legal copies are about the same price range as ones in EU. I remember however when things were not like that, I remember when pirate copies were everywhere and it was ridiculously hard to find legal ones and they were ridiculously expensive, MUCH more expensive than those in EU for example. And WTH is with internet argument? I'm sorry but as much as I remember during those times, getting internet was extremely exotic.
Saying what you can do now in Russia is funny indeed...

Didn't someone actually said that "they DON'T deliver" anyways?

ok you can consider my post as a trolling :)
as for pirate CDs, their amount was greatly reduced because of widespread of fast internet and trackers. tough pirate production is still freely distributed.

Indeed...
But we've gone way off topic here, better get it back on the track before someone gets a warning or something. :)

just discovered that Civ 5 is coming and all I have found out is that its due in the Fall of 2010..for all us non Yanks out here, whats that id date form..ie month etc?
