Civilization VI announced

Yeah, a Weather system would make much more sense, if done correctly seeing those type of weathern pattern predictions animations while ingame would be just soothing.

But knowing Firaxis, he'll be leading Germany. What people forget about is that Frederick often despised the rest of the Empire and the various German peoples (and the thought of German unification was in its very early infancy). So the idea for standalone Prussia still stands, with Germany getting Bismarck or Wilhelm I/II instead.

In a scale of 0 to Greek Split, how likely is it that the leader's outfits will change according to era like Civ III?

Greek Split is a solid 10 then?
I think it's a 2. no mention of changing outfits has been made, and the complexityo f models compared to Civ III has gone up, so they'd need to make a model for every era which looked suitable to the culture.

I'd quite like to see Frederick as an actual leader in Civ, but i'll expect they'll stick to the Civ5 leaders for the most part.

Pretty sure that Frederick has been in the civ series before - he was in Civ IV Warlords IIRC

I'm hoping that we'll see City Health return as a default feature, either in the base game or saved for an expansion - it's something that I've always liked for whatever reason :p

Maybe health will be one of the 12 districts.

Civ IV Vanilla, even.

^^this

I don't know if this has already been brought up, but any information on retaining global happiness vs. returning to the local happiness system? Will there be religion in the base game or will we have to wait for an expansion again? :p

IIRC Firaxis said happiness would be local again, which is great. They also said that the game will include all features from Civ V + GNK + BNW, and specifically mentioned Religion, Espionage, Archaeology, Trade Routes and City-States. You can even see a Missionary in one of the screenshots.

If we get to spy the API early, we might be able to find out if Health is in the game. (Of course whoever gets their hands on the API early wouldn't be able to tell anyone what they've seen publicy.)

If they're improving everything like they said they are, then yes.

Let's not forget they said Civ5 would be the most moddable Civ game yet :p

I personally have high hopes (their vague descriptions of how they improved modding at least hints that they know what went wrong with Civ5--i.e. too much was hardcoded and too many things were "assumed" on behalf of the game engine), but it's not like complex things aren't possible in Civ5. It's just that things like dummy buildings, policies, etc. are silly workarounds that shouldn't be needed if the core game is constructed with modularity in mind. We can only pray that they deliver a game where such things aren't necessary.

Well, if Buildings have to placed on the map landscape, we can all forget the 'Hidden' building work-around anyway. We'll just have to find another sneaks method to accomplish stuff.

Actually, you can make buildings within the districts - and also the cities! Basically, an Amphiteather or a Museum can only be built in a Culture District, but a Monument can only be built in a City, just like a Granary, for example.

Very well. We shall call it the Pontifical-Prussian Civ VI Mission for the Procurement of Glory and Wealth and the Inhibition of the Territorial Ambitions of the Wicked Sixteen Nations.

Also, wonder what will become of Great People and Golden Ages this game.

Seeing as Tourism, and probably Great Works (unless they revamp the system) are confirmed to be returning - I think we can assume that Cultural Great people will be at least somewhat similar if not much the same as they are in current Civ V.

I really wish there was something compelling about Golden Ages - they never really felt interesting to me :p

At some point I really want to take a look at the Beyond Earth code to see what changes they made. From what I've heard, it sounded like they at least made a concerted effort to make yields more unified, and potentially added more lua hooks to use. Even just improvements like this would help reduce some of the necessity of dummy buildings and the like.
