Civilization Wishlist for Civ VII

I personally don't mind Korea as a science civ, considering it's not like we got a lot of them anyways. Still I think a mixture of culture and science with being a turtle civ would suit them well.

While there at it make Greece a blend of science and culture as well. :mischief:
I think that the great civs that could fit as good on many aspects like Americans, Greeks, Romans, Chinese, etc. Should have some mechanic that allow the player to shine on any aspect you want. For example, Greeks as the specialized cities civ:
- School/Academy an UB that could be build on any district (one per city) to highly boost the corresponding specialized aspect.
- Hegemmon allow you to move your capital (one time per era) to boost more that aspect.
- Each greek leader would have an affinity to produce free Great People from their corresponding focus, like Alexander would produce Great Generals.

So you could chose your own way and adapt each era.

China's contribution was persecuting Buddhists so that the Buddhist monks went to Korea who in turn spread Buddhism to Japan. :mischief:
It's also home to probably the best known Buddhist monastery, the Shaolin Temple.

I would love to see a cultural/scientific Germany led by Rudolf II.
Everyone knows that cultural Germany is really just Austria. :mischief:

I agree that ideally I think a way to blend science and culture would ultimately depend on the leader you pick as well.
For example Alexander could be similar to the Hellenistic Fusion ability which is gain boosts of science and culture when you conquer a new civ.
For a more diplomatic approach you can go with Pericles who might have more of a bonus to produce great people points depending on the city-states you befriend.
I also like the idea of an academy UB which is different from the usual theater related replacement we usually get for them.

Taizong China
I'm sure you mean Taizong of Tang, but thinking about it Taizong of Song wouldn't be the worst choice. He wouldn't be the best choice, either, but I could see him as a second leader for China (not a first leader, please :p ).

It's also home to probably the best known Buddhist monastery, the Shaolin Temple.
I know it's not true, but I like to think Shaolin became associated with gongfu because of how often Buddhism was persecuted in China. :p (Also the Dragon Throne was not the most perceptive when it came to religion. Nestorian Christianity and Manichaeism both got stamped out in China because the emperor mistook them for Buddhist sects. :crazyeye: )

Everyone knows that cultural Germany is really just Austria. :mischief:
Rudolf II was a Hapsburg so it checks out. :p

I mean let's be honest germany in civ is like the biggest melting pot after india! I mean we have a holy roman emperor, a modern UU, and a prussian UI. The HRE was not Germany, (I'll let prussia slide for now)

The HRE was not Germany
Then what was it? Central African Republic? Did Germany just appear out of the ether in 1871? Don't mistake nation-states for civilizations.

Sure the HRE might not have all been Germany, but the bulk of the HRE was the territory known as the Kingdom of Germany. Fredrick Barbarossa was known as both the King of Germans and Holy Roman Emperor at the same time.

I'm pretty sure Belgium was independent from the HRE by then. Sorry couldn't resist. I'll just leave it at that. :mischief:

No I was referring to the fact that Germania was part of the HRE. The HRE (during it's largest parts) streched from northern Spain to the borders of poland. and from the english channel into italy. Though, during most of it's existance it encompassed modern day, germany, holland, most of italy, parts of france and poland, and a bunch of other smaller nations. I'd not say that the HRE was german. It had germanic rulers (Mostly Saxons, Bavarians, and Franconians) however it also had french and italian rulers.

Good point so I guess he slides. I just wanted to point out the germany in civ 6 is kinda a melting pot civ.

Rome spanned the entire Mediterranean and had emperors from all across the empire, including several Punic emperors in one of histories greatest ironies, but it was still Rome. The HRE heartland was the Germanies and it was a Germanic empire; it fits in the German civilization. :dunno: Personally I hope we keep getting HRE leaders for Germany because Bismarck's gotten boring, there are many interesting Holy Roman Emperors, and having a separate HRE civ would be indulgently Eurocentric.

That's what happens when a civ lasts for 1,000 years, give or take. I don't have a problem with a civ being eclectic as long as it's coherent, but the Uboot feels like it doesn't quite belong with Civ6 Germany's kit. I might have gone with a Landsknecht as something more thematic (still post Freddy but connected with the HRE).

So 60 civ that I would like to have (on regional groups of three):
- Gaelic - English - American
- Roman - Portuguese - Spanish
- French - German - Dutch
- Danish - Polish - Hungarian
- Greek - Bulgarian - Russian
- Akan - Yoruba - Shona
- Malinese - Kanembu - Hausa
- Nubian - Ethiopian - Somali
- Egyptian - Carthaginian - Berber
- Assyrian - Aramean - Arabian
- Persian - Armenian - Ottoman
- Indian - Tamil - Gurkani
- Huna - Tibetan - Mongol
- Chinese - Miao - Vietnamese
- Jurchen - Korean - Japanese
- Kmer - Burmese - Siamese
- Javanese - Filipino - Tongan
- Inca - Chimu - Guarani
- Maya - Aztec - Garifuna
- Haudenosaunee - Navajo - Cree

The only reason why I wouldn't want a HRE leader for Germany in Civ 7 is because I want Maria Theresa back for Austria. :mischief:
Though instead of Bismarck again I'd say there's nothing wrong with Frederick the Great coming back for a more Prussia centric German civilization.

I don't mind the U-boat because I at least feel like Germany needed something modern. Well it was either that or the Panzer again.

I was never arguing against an HRE leader for germany. I like it honestly. And yes the Landsknecht would fit better XD. I honestly was just pointing out how spread out germany was. With other civs it usually sticks to 1-2 maybe three eras. German has a leader from medieval, UI from industrial, and a UU from modern. I just doesn't fell right.

Why not both? :mischief:

Ah, I misunderstood your complaint then. I don't mind a civ being a bit sprawling, but Germany could use some tuning for sure.

Frederick the Great is an interesting choice for Germany but I think newcomer leader is a better idea like Otto the Great, Henry IV, Rudolf I of Germany or Louis IV.

Austria's issue is a complicated, Austria is a separated civ in CIV 5 and it does not appear in CIV 6, in CIV 7, could Austrian leaders leas separated Austrian civ or merged into Germany. If the developer decided to merged into Germany, I think Austrian leader like Maximilian I can become German leader as Maximilian I has more chance to lead German as Austrian leader more than Maria Theresa leads Germany.

I don't mind the U-boat because I at least feel like Germany needed something modern. Well it was either that or the Panzer again.

Panzer was unique unit of Germany from CIV 3 to CIV 5, I think civs need some more naval unique unit like U-boat, I think in CIV 7, they should add each civs having 2 unique unit, in my opinion Germany in CIV 7, the unique units should be U-boat and Reichsritter.

I feel strange sometimes, when CIV has leader, unit unique and unique infrastructure having different eras but that is CIV game since CIV 3.

There are more medieval unique units for Germany besides Landsknecht such as Reichsritter, Doppelsolder and Teutonic Knights

I'd like to see 'Kievan Rus' (or 'Rus') in civ7 instead of or next to Russia, because
a) That's the only fully legit way we can get Ukraine and Belarus into the game (Cossacks would be really far fetched as they lasted only a few years as an independent entity)
b) It would be nice to see medieval Russia instead of the obligatory set of either Catherine or Peter (or Stalin :mischief:) and Cossacks unit (who are ironically also Ukrainian not Russian by the way lol)
c) This would also mean 'Russia' having trade focus, as its the most obvious one for Kievan Rus, which would be very fresh approach over HURR EXPANSION MUCH LAND WINTER AND INDUSTRY

In the similar vein, I'd implode from joy if Charlemagne came back to the franchise as a leader of a Frankish civ.
In fact, he'd actually be kind of sensible dual leader of both Germany and France, using civ6 systems. In fact, I wouldn't be offended if we got such civ on release instead of eternal recurrence of Germany and France in the initial package... Although I'm sure French and Germans would be offended :p

I'm with you on Kievan Rus', but...

Belarus into the game

Well, let's just say I have a very convoluted plan to take down a certain regime

Also, why not? We have Maori in game, it's not like they have more accomplishments as a major historical emoire. Of course Belarus alone is not the most exciting faction to add to the game, and its separate identity is highly questionable, but as I said, as a part of a Kievan Rus oackage...

There has been threads going around about what people want to see for Civ 7, but I have yet to see a thread dedicated to people's ultimate wish list of what playable civs that you want, however ideal or not.

Theoretically I would see Civ 7 making it to at least 60 civs so that will be my limit. I'll also separate them by geographical regions but everyone else can list them how you want.

Americas:
1. America
2. Argentina (replaces Gran Colombia thematically but Mapuche geographically)
3. Aztec
4. Brazil
5. Haiti (replaces Canada) :mischief:
6. Inca
7. Iroquois
8. Maya
9. Muisca (replaces Mapuche thematically but Gran Colombia geographically)
10. Navajo
11. Tlingit/Haida (Without Canada I think we could realistically fit at least 3 Native American civs, especially by putting in a PNW too. I do think that in Civ 6 North America got the short end of the stick while every other continent got more civs than the previous iteration.)

Africa:
12. Angola (instead of Kongo)
13. Berbers
14. Benin (the kingdom from present-day Nigeria)
15. Egypt
16. Ethiopia
17. Mali
18. Nubia
19. Swahili
20. Zulu

Europe:
21. Austria ( I just want Maria Theresa back)
22. Byzantines
23. Dutch
24. England
25. France
26. Germany
27. Greece (Though with Alexander back as well as another leader) :p
28. Goths (Based off of Classical Era and replaces Gauls at least thematically)
29. Ireland (Consolidation of Scotland and Gauls into one "Celtic" civ again)
30. Italy
31. Norway (Denmark could still work as long as there is some Viking elements)
32. Poland
33. Portugal
34. Rome
35. Romania (Might as well get a vampire civ this time and foray into non Poland/Russia East Europe) :mischief:
36. Russia
37. Spain
38. Sweden

East and Central/South Asia:
39. China
40. India
41. Indonesia
42. Japan
43. Korea
44. Khmer
45. Mongolia
46. Mughals (Initially based more around Pakistan/Lahore to make it separate from India)
47. Scythia (I'm open to the Huns or any other steppe nomads if a cool concept is behind them)
48. Siam (A more Industrial era representation of SE Asia would be nice)
49. Vietnam

Middle East:
50. Assyria
51. Arabia
52. Armenia (Though I'd be personally fine with Georgia returning as well)
53. Babylon
54. Ottomans
55. Persia
56. Phoenicia (Again like last time but this time so another civilization can also spawn in North Africa)
57. Sumer

Oceania:
58. Australia
59. Maori (more land based)
60. Samoa (traditional Polynesian wayfinding civ though Tonga or Hawaii works well enough)

Honorable Mentions:
Franks- A Frankish civ with Charlemagne would be nice but with me adding Goths and Austria, already on top of Germany and France I thought that might be too many Germanic people groups in the game. Plus I would rather have Romania with Vlad Tepes as the obligatory civ created for a specific leader this time around. :mischief:

Burma/Tibet- I mean why not consider it? I decided to leave it off because it most likely won't happen but at least we have many other religious civs from the area that can play similarly to them.
I like that Haiti over Canada XD
The important is have to have Haiti in this games.
