Civilizations of Conquests Feature on Gamespot...

:nuke: Prepare your bunkers, for when Xen hears of Seafaring...well it does not bear contemplating!:nuke:

The leader head is also insane.

Why aren't the Dutch Commercial?, boohoo:cry:

Also in the history part there wasn't said anything about the VOC, the first international, worldspanning trade organisation. Which made the Dutch one of the richest country's of the world.

This is so unfair!!!

However I do understand they could choose agricultural, the Dutch are very good at that too. But it's not of what we are known for.

It is actually a pretty good civ to play. It is also all about balance. Ok, look, if the Dutch were Commercial, then some other civ would be Agricultural and Agricultural might not fit another civ as well as it would the Dutch. It is all about balance and trait displacement. European countries were very well known about their agricultural ability so I do think it is a good choice although, now, there are so many that can match one civ that it is just not possible to make all the civs what they really were and are now.

Hey! What's this with William of Orange?

Look at the leaderhead...

In the article, he is clearly the William of Orange who fought against the Spaniards and was eventually assassinated.

In the picture he is the William of Orange (William III of England) who was the chap responsible for the Glorious Revolution of 1688.

What's up with that?

Who knows, maybe they wanted to do the first guy, but found a picture of the second guy. I didn't even know there was more than one :crazyeye:

where is xen anyway? he should be here by now

wow! the dromon looks cool. the byzantines will be the first one i play

Xen probably committed suicide on hearing of the Byzantine traits:lol:

Oe he is preparing a minor war against Atari.:nuke:

probly so:P

Someone please tell me that the Byzantines are Medittaranian.
If they are European or Mid East....

Eww... AGRICULTURAL Dutch? Boooo! I still think they should have been Sea/Ind before Sea/Agr.

Well, at least I can always mod my game. ;)

And Theodora is pretty. :) Time to switch her Leaderhead with Cathy II. <g>

well, first off, even I have to admit, the drom is cool looking, I just cant figure out why they never put rowers on those ships...

though it still pales in coparison to the cataphract :)

as for the traits, I should launch a minor war against Atari- those traits are classical greek if anything, and it makes me wonder what Greeces are...

the Byzantines shouls have AT LEAST had religious going for them- but the preveiw convenentlly erases all indications that it would have even been a choce- not even a mention of the majestic Hagia Sophia...

Yet, if you look at the background of the Byzantine leaderhead in the preview you can see that classic Jebus icon, which is strange because it hints at the Byzantines religious identity.

yeah, kinda weird....But I think most people will just pass it off as being a "generic" influence of the times (the middle ages)

If the Byzantines are anything other then a med. people, I'll have to launch a crusade :nuke: :nuke: :nuke:   :nuke:

It would be the kind of foolish mistake that the developers would make....

I wonder what the Byzantine leader looks like in the modern age....

J/K.

Let's hope she has hair.

I did think Greece would have had to be Scientific, Seafaring (but this does help Byzantine)

LOL. Maybe she will wear a hat. Like an army helmet or something.

God only knows what the modern sumerian will look like....:crazyeye:

I was hoping she would be a bit...prettyer...as is it looks like she was originalla justinian model who changed half-way into a woman...

That's because the leaderhead is enlarged so much...they all look ugly if they're that close up.

Well the Dutch leaderhead certainly doesn't lack for chin. :) Although I am definately editing the Dutch to be Seafaring/Commercial in my games. I mean, even on massive maps like Marla's they're nearly almost boxed in right away by Germany and France. They need to take to the seas sharpish and find some unsettled land or at least set up trading settlements - just like they did. :)

They are still Seafaring. You would just change it so they get less food (so they would build less cities).
