How so? It looks very good IMO.

Sorry Xen. I don't think you'll like Seafaring for Byzantine (although it will make Dromons more useful).

I think Greece would have been a better choice (I always thought of Byz as Rel, Com).

But their unit shows that they were better on the sea than anything else so I think Seafaring is very appropriate (sorry Xen :p ).

;)

Is there anything besides the name that he agrees with?

I'm reading the Dutch now, pretty interesting. I'm not sure about Agricultural, though. But this is the civ with the new traits.

BTW, Agr starts with Pottery. What does Agr, Exp start with?

Com, Sea probably gets Alphabet, Pottery (so the Brittish won't have to change).

Hey! What's this with William of Orange?

Look at the leaderhead...

In the article, he is clearly the William of Orange who fought against the Spaniards and was eventually assassinated.

In the picture he is the William of Orange (William III of England) who was the chap responsible for the Glorious Revolution of 1688.

What's up with that?

And Woe, i looked to the east and I saw the First Cataphract of the Apocolypse and his name was Xen :D

They did at least mention Cataphract in Byzantine's write up

The description of the Dutch on GameSpot makes them sound like a perfect fit for Commercial. I'm interested to know why Agricultural was chosen.

Sould the Dromon (historically) be better than other ships... or just cheaper. I'd say go with both!

Lethal Sea Bombardment on the Dromon
Wonder what the stats on the bombard will be? (prob. B:2 R:1 ROF:1)
Sounds intriguing but pointless.

Hmm... I was hoping the Byzantines would have some different stats, but oh, well.

Lethal Sea Bombardment on the Dromon ....seems pointless

Pointless? Having a ship with a nice Bombard value 3000 years before anybody else? And +1 Movement thanks to the trait? And the best research capacity of the 1st era, making sure you grab MM fast enough?

Don't forget, if you take a single HP of an enemy unit, it tends to run away, and don't forget, Lethal Sea.

Combine that with the prettiest Leaderhead of all:love: , and you'll understand why Byzantium is my absolute favorite Civ!

Just a guess, of course, but most likely they wanted to change as few of the existing Civs as possible, when they assigned the new traits. So England already had SEA/COM, and considering the Netherlands are pretty heavy in agrobusiness right now, not a far off choice IMHO.

Why aren't the Dutch Commercial?, boohoo:cry:

Also in the history part there wasn't said anything about the VOC, the first international, worldspanning trade organisation. Which made the Dutch one of the richest country's of the world.

This is so unfair!!!

However I do understand they could choose agricultural, the Dutch are very good at that too. But it's not of what we are known for.
