CivIVNES

Civ Name: (Empire of) Lydrath
Base Civ: Rome
City Names: Lydrath, Lora, Siradd, Marellia, Vencetas, Gericala

You didn't see this in #nes so I will ask again.

Are we allowed to roleplay our Civ as multiple states? How about with borders greater than our actual cultural borders? How about with borders lesser than our actual cultural borders? How would intra-civ wars be dealt with? Will you be using pure Civ 4 mechanics, or will you "Cheat" by using world builder to achieve certain effects? Will we get the "Action Points" ala Daft to get free units/builds/GP?

Terrance: Yes, Maybe, Maybe, Wars will be handled in a similar fashion to a real NES, not using Civ mechanics, I will use the World Builder if I can figure it out, possibly but leaning towards no.

---

Okay, excellent.

I am going to *close* this to new submissions at this point. I have 11 confirmations so far. I will allow 1-2 more of the reserved players (like Angst, Iggy, etc.) to confirm their spots, everyone else will be shuffled into a reserve.

I think loading on a Huge map might melt my computer, though I will try some test runs. I also need to get familiar with the Worldbuilder to see if I can make unique things (like uprisings, barbarian migrations) happen.

This is so sad ;~; WHY DIDNT I WAKE UP EARLIER

Base Civ: Germany/Bismark
Nation Name: Hauldric
Cities: Hauldracia, Remberia, Faust

Why?

Reserve me please.

You should try totestra Thlayli!

Put me on the reserve list.

Civ Name: To Be Determined Soon
Base Civ: Inca (What else! :D)
City List: To Be Determined Slightly Less Soon

Also, are Permanent Alliances enabled for the game, as well as tribal villages?

Yes, most things are enabled. Perm Alliances, Vassal States, Random Events, etc.

Because of no input from Iggy or angst thus far, I will accept Nuka's submission. First update coming before I go to bed.

EDIT: Front page updated with clearer explanation of how this will work.

Civ Name: High Tesal
Base Civ: Inca/Huayna Capac
City List: Tesal, Omnal, Fool, Darhahal

Update One - Duskrise

Men have wandered for thousands of years under the night sky. But now their wanderings turn inward, and from those journeys come living dreams: Cities, technology, and grand ideas. Will these dreams, still vague, lead to a new awakening, or a heretofore unimaginable nightmare? That is for you to decide.

The people of Abeille know nothing but forests, being surrounded by seemingly endless trees. Rumors say that a coast is nearby.

The kingdom of Ak'Nakal lies by the coast, beside a river fed by a small lake. Open land can be found away from the river, containing grassland, lakes, and fjords.

The first settlements of the Chaoyang are on a hilly plateau buttressed by a salt water bay and a pair of fresh water lakes. Surrounding the hills are plains, grassland, and solitary stands of old growth trees.

Civoria is founded in a small, pleasantly warm river valley, cradled within an isthmus by the coast. Shiny rocks litter the ground to the west. To the north lay imposing jungles.

Clifton, or the Cliftonlings as such ancient chronicles call them, begin their existence facing a narrow strait with the famous cliffs that are its namesake. Nearby seems to be an isthmus, and the waters teem with marine life.

The Gardiani, unlike their neighbors, begin life in the savanna, with dry stands of baobab trees for shade, the hum of locusts at night for company and the trumpeting of elephants ringing in their ears.

The Hauldricht settle upon a hilly piece of land surrounded by water on three sides. White capped mountains loom in the distance, while ice often drifts south from northern floes.

Spoiler Hauldric :

The Kappanoka have a similar, if slightly friendlier, situation than the Hauldricht. Their chilly peninsula abounds with crab colonies, as well as deep forests, northern plains and then a major mountain range to the north of that.

The Lydrathi settle near the coast, at the center of a great, fertile, and bountiful grassland that will surely support many young subjects. Already plans are being made for a daughter city to be built, for the land can easily support it, though these remain but dreams.

The bold people of Providence, or the Providents as they are known, found their first city on a cold but fertile northern plain filled with corn. Local villages provided a map which describes nearby seas with massive ice floes.

The even bolder tribes of Taoron gather in their first moot at the place of Beacon, to share their knowledge of the surrounding lands and seas.

For the tribes of the Targani, life is harder than perhaps any of their neighbors in this world. Hunting remains the livelihood of most of the people in this harsh tundra and boreal forest, though some say great treasures can be found in the cold, windswept hills.

The Weshanka, unlike all of their neighbors, begin life on the true steppe. The endless plains stretch to all horizons.

OOC: Endless thanks to Matt for his assistance in collating descriptions. In return I shall give him the reward he desires.

Within the next two days, I would request your orders in this thread, in a spoiler. You can choose to emphasize Development, Expansion, or Spirit. (These three goals will change in future updates.) Flavor will be welcomed and may accrue secret benefits.

Spoiler :
EXPANSION

I can easily support an early REX with Gem mines. The southern land looks good, and the Pigs are an excellent first place to look for a second city. The northern Jungle is meh, maybe ealry city or so to block off land and/or get an resource. More development will probably come in the Medieval Era tho.

@Stockholme: When a player goes inactive, whichever player on the reserve list takes it first will get it, to encourage quick updating.

@Iggy/Shadowbound: Since Shadowbound and Iggy's concepts are both vaguely Mesoamerican perhaps you two could co-play if Iggy would have it. Sorry I couldn't fit you both in, I didn't have the space.

@All: Flavor is not *required* but strongly encouraged. I would like to know more about your cultures, and how they change over time. That may include changing your civilization name! Also, in the next update I will completely remove the UI in all the screens, sorry about that.

Orders deadline will be 5 PM EST, Thursday July 25th. If they get in faster, I'll update faster.

What does Spirit entail?

Working off of the precedent of Allemagne and Allemand, I believe Abeilland would make more grammatical sense than Abeillard from my understanding of French. If you could edit that, that would be great.

Also, can we describe what we want our nation to do besides just what focus we want? It seems a little limited what we can order this turn otherwise.

Spoiler For Thlayli's eyes only :
I pick spirit
