civplayah's experimental mafia

I'll abstain, at the risk of taking this game into a stalemate.

What's wrong with it?

Still, what's wrong with DoubleAlt3000 being dead?

Just for clarification: if there are more votes for abstain than for a single player, we get a no-lynch result? If that is so, there's a stalemate in the horizon.

Nope, abstain counts as 'I'm not voting for anyone'. So even if everyone but one person voted for abstain, then the person with the most votes (in this case, the person with one vote) gets lynched.

Um, Zack, Double A... in case you haven't checked the OP, Sonereal is already dead. He's been lynched for an hour, apparently.

Which is why I think it's worth trying the abstain bandwagon, at least for a day or two. Civplayah wouldn't let me vote 'no lynch', remember? He wants us to kill each other. The only way to outsmart him is to bandwagon abstain, but then... people keep messing it up.

Civplayah's been desperate to persuade us that there's an enemy, or enemies, amongst us, but if there is, it doesn't have the power to kill, by civplayah's own words. And considering that we're dealing with a crazy guy who trapped us all in a room to facilitate our own deaths, and who also seems to own a bear or some other big nasty creature (see: Dom3K kill), which 'enemy' would you think to be the logical first choice to defy?

Would you care to reconsider your vote, Double A?

EDIT: and Zack? although he's voting for the guy that got lynched so there you go (EDIT AGAIN: he changed it again, the slippery fish)

Woops.

Omega124. Kill the lurkers!
Right-o... :fos: at you for throwing votes desperately at anyone who can't vote you back.

Actually, you can vote for 'abstain' and keep on towards the deadlock.

The experiment is a test in the Prisoner's Dilemma. It's in our interest to abstain, but people keep screwing it up.

Well, I'm hesitant to suggest this because people reacted badly to it in the mini-NotW, but perhaps a harsher punishment for deviation is required? Like, if a player is the first not to vote to abstain, as with Double A, that player gets bandwagoned, with no renegotiation.

Probably won't catch any scum, if there are scum in this game, but I'd really like to know what the abstain bandwagon will do.

It might work, anyway. abstain, Double A

Worst thing is, we never get to see who's mafia (or serial killer if there is one) and who isn't, so there might be only one remaining mafia as well as two. Or *shudders* three.
