CivRev for iPhone and iPod Touch Released!

I've been playing with this for a while on my iPod Touch. A few things I've noticed:

The splash screens include a new "2K-China". Makes me think that Firaxis provided oversight, but didn't have a great deal to do with the direct development. Kind of like Civ3-Conquests being done by Breakaway Games, with Firaxis oversight. Which means that most Firaxis developers were free to be working on other projects during this time - Civ5?

Many of the graphics are actually the DS graphics. The map graphics and buttons are new, though.

After playing for so long using real game controllers, the touch-screen interface seems clumsy. But maybe that's just me. :dunno:

Still, I really like this. :)

IMO, the graphics on the iPhone/iTouch are a bit better than the one in the DS. Also, if you pinch and squeese or expand, you actualy move in and out of the map.

I also like the fact that the Civ2 style air units are in this one as well as your naval ships providing bombardment when you're attacking..

There is an inteview on Gamasutra in which Jason Bergman said 2K China did the engine development for iPhone but Firaxis designed the interface.

In any case, it's very impressive to have this amount of gameplay on iPhone. I definitely will play CivRev much more often now. :)

I tried the demo and surprisingly liked it enough to buy it. Nice job Firaxis/2k! It's always good to see that the platform can do more then ifart apps. :D

I think it is one of the biggest apps I've downloaded though, it took quite awhile to download.

People should not be wasting their time on this! They should be working on Civ5! Can't they see the high demand for it. Just open up the ideas and suggestions thread. Or read a bunch of threads until you see it seem to spring up into discussion from no where.

If there will be a Civ5, I am sure they are working on it.

CivRev for the iPhone was just a minor detour on that route. The porting to the iPhone was handled by 2K-China, and while the new artwork and final integration and testing was done in-house, I imagine that, fot the key Civ5 devs, it was little more than a blip on their radar. ;)

Has Firaxis announce when the iPhone version is available to the rest of the world, namely East Asia & Australia?

We haven't talked about releasing in other territories yet. I do know we are looking into it and if we can get the game out to other regions, we will and I'll let you guys know.

Thanks Elizabeth. I do notice it's available in Australia. I hope it's as soon as possible and Apple approves it fast.

Could 2K please explain why they have chosen not to release the iphone game in countries like Norway? The lack of information and progress is so frustrating and that is no way to treat part of your fan base.
