The British Academy of Film and Television Arts, an organization that gives out yearly awards to honor excellence in various entertainment categories, held their ceremony for Video Game Awards a few days ago, and Civilization Revolution won Best Strategy Game. These awards honor "the very best in artistic, creative and technical innovation in video games", and past winners for Best Strategy Game include Wii Sports and Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War.

This year, CivRev beat out Advance Wars: Dark Conflict, Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3, Ninjatown, SOCOM: US Navy SEALs Tactical Strike, and Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare won three awards, the most of any game.

Hmm didn't know that the Bafta's did video game awards. People seem the think a Bafta is prestigious but really they aren't many jokes have won one.

As always, a Civilization game winning an award is great, even if it were an award given by a film and television society. A bit off-topic, I'm pretty amazed by the fact that Spore won an award, over GTA IV, Fallout 3, Fable II, Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed.
