If the South African government has proof of unjust activity by Zimbabwe, they are free to share that. As such there was nothing unjust about our actions.

We find it amusing that a nation that claims to pride themselves on following the will of the people would so blatantly disregard the will of the people of Transvaal. Zimbabwe can only assume that South Africa provided it’s best offer to the citizens of Transvaal, and the people of Transvaal when provided with a choice ultimately chose the best option for them.

Now that the will of the people is known, the nation that claims to want to support the people resorts to threats of violence against those same people and seems willing to bring the inevitable suffering and devastation that are unfortunate by-products of state violence to those people.

Zimbabwe is not interested in armed conflict with South Africa, but make no mistake in assuming that we will not protect our people.

Moderate growth this year​

- Spyros Markezinis, Finance Minister of Crete-Cyprus​

The Finance Minister of Crete-Cyprus, Spyros Markezinis, an economist and macro-economic professor who is not a member of PASOK but was selected nonetheless for the important job, has stated that the Crete-Cyprus economy shall witness a moderate growth this year. He has said: "The impressive increase of our GDP last year by 300% was a result of the fact that our economy was quite small as well as due to the fact that we had a capital of about 500% our GDP to invest on the economy. Right now, our economy is larger and we have to rely on our own money, so the increase of the GDP will be more moderate."

He continued: "This is nevertheless quite impressive and was the expected growth.", referring to the expected increase of the GDP this year. "Currently, our economic plan is being successful and by 1964 we expect to be able to repay all of our debts, so by 1965 there will be no debt and we shall be able to rely on our GDP to facilitate growth."

New Democracy leader Konstantinos Karamanlis released a statement saying that compared to all other states, except for Peking and Bohemia, Crete-Cyprus has the smallest economy. He said that the economic policies of the government were not ensuring a growth of the economy, while the loans would kill the economy.

Economic analysts of our newspaper note that while Mr. Karamanlis is correct about the state of the economy, he is wrong about the loans. The loans can be repaid in 1964 according to almost all economists.

Foreign Policy

Themistocles Sofoulis, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Crete-Cyprus, has stated the country's foreign policy goals: secure peace and stability in the region, avoid conflicts, close cooperate with democratic and communist nations and friendship with UAR. According to this doctrine, Crete-Cyprus shall remain out of conflicts, shall try to establish good relations with both the USSR and the Kingdom of Avalon while attempting to cooperate more closely with UAR.

Themistocles Sofoulis has accepted the congratulations of UAR for the victory of PASOK and wants to ask the UAR leadership if they will accept a visit of his to Baghdad to talk about a defensive agreement and an agreement to secure free naval trade in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On the issue of Poland, Crete-Cyprus congratulates the Internationale and Poland for avoiding conflict and finding a peaceful solution to their issues while Themistocles Sofoulis has stated that this may be the start of a closer cooperation between democratic and communist states.
