Pre turn check
Lux can go down from 10% to zero without anyone rioting. We're now making
53 gpt.
Agree with AK that nationalism and steam power would be good. We currently
have 4 turns at 60% sci to Navigation. Most of core towns with Baracks are building
Cav.
We have quite of lux to trade - 2 wine, 3 dye, 1 spice, 2 ivory.
Decide to give Arabia Dyes, Wines and Ivory for Printing Press and Music Theory
and all their gold (55)
We're now just down Magnetism to Spain and even with everyone else.
Get Magnetism from Spain for Dyes + 680g.
We are now joint tech leaders. Switch to Economics (due in 8)
We are at war with both Maya and America but it's a bit of a long
haul to get troops across
Have also noted YanksGiants advice re killing a few longbow.
Hit enter - Americans ask for an audience. They will give us 3 (San Fran, Houston
and Denver) of their 4 cities for peace so I accept. We can now concentrate on the Mayans
The Mayans capture Houston but we will have it back in a couple of turns.
Constantinople Aquedect->longbow
Olly Cav->Cav
Ironland Cav->Cav
Pelargir Cav->Cav
Huaras Barracks->Cav
Vilcas MI->Galleon
Americans start building Bach's
Arabia and Spain both now have ToG
Wasn't sure what the Palace prebuild in Macchu Picchu was for but it can
now build Bach in 1 and only lose 10 shields and this will be useful
for the WW so I build it.
1255 AD (1) Kill a few Mayan longbows. Try and find the best places to
move the cav too but I am struggling. Switch Dallas from Barracks to Galleon.
IT San Fran gets razed by the Mayans.
Arabs ask for an audience. They want Wm +270g for WM . I'll wait a bit.
Macchu Picchu Bachs -> cav
Juli Cav -> Cav
Mecca completes Newtons
Maya start Magellans
1260 AD (2) Kill more longbows. Washington cav->settler. Still hard work getting anything
over towards the Mayans since most of our production is on the Island
furthest away. Switch some of the Barracks builds to Harbours / galleons / cannons.
Most of these towns will never be productive enough to build huge amounts of military and
we have to pay maintenance on barracks
IT - Cuzco Cav->Cav
Tiwanaku Cav->Cav
Vitcos Cav->Cav
Eglarest Cav->Cav
We want to settle the new lands between us and the inca so I rush
settler in Washington for 48g.
1265 AD (3) General worker / Cav movement. We still don't have enough troops
in reserve near Boston / St Louis to take Houston / Lazapa and the other
Mayan towns yet.
IT - No trades possible
Washington Settler->Cannon
Nasca Barracks->Musket
1270 AD (4) There are still a few Mayan Jags / Longbows hanging around near
Boston. Have 5 Elite cav wins but no leader
I'm going to add a few of the
captured workers to smaller towns as we have roaded / mined quite a lot now.
I know we need workers when we get rail but the captured ones are slow anyway
and we can use more growth.
I go through and M/M the towns. Should have done this before really. There are quite
a few towns which should be concentrating on growth but instead are
managed for shields. Eg detroit is producing 9 shields at size 3 but 8 of those are
lost to corruption. We might as well try to get these sorts of towns to grow
bigger now. Rusha warrior in Denver as it is undefended. Will rush a Chasqui
next time so that we can explore.
IT Arabia and Spain have ToG - we have nothing to trade. Others have nothing
to trade us for printing press, Banking, Astronomy or Magnetism.
Seattle Library->Marketplace
Vilcabamba Settler->Cannon
Denver Warrior->Warrior
1275 AD (5) Not a lot. Cavs attack Mayans but don't make too much progress.
I have had some pretty lousy luck with the RNG. 6-3-3 cav against 2-2-1 javs
should have gone far better than it did (and I had hill / mountain defensive
bonus most of the time)
I might have a chance to finish the other 5 tonight but I am not sure at
the moment
