If a freaking flightless bird in a tux can survive and THRIVE down there, then humans sure as hell ought to be able to make it.

No, I don't want to end up living underwater whine people screw up the planet more to melt the ice caps of Antarctica!

Apparently in 2000 it rained there. It's only a matter of time before Antartica is thought of just like Norway, as "just a little chilly."

Why would you want to?

Plus that ice is there for a good reason. If you start melting it down you'll screw with the ocean currents which go from hot at the equator to cold there.

Flightless birds have much more blubber than we do. Homo Sapiens aren't adapted to such conditions.

*Sigh* Great, you just let the cat out of the bag. We Americans have been conditioning our population for a mass Antarctica colonization for 20 years now, and here you let the world in on it.

We antarticans could go witht the U.S philosophy "screw the world, we're doing what's best for us." Seriously we'd be in Antartica what would we need the rest of the world four.

We'll send those penguins packing! Just like what happened to the dodo bird.

No, because somebody would sneak in a couple of polar bear cubs because they make good pets, and years from now, polar bears would wrest control of Antarctica from the penguins. It'd get messy.

It's more likely that the bears would go after the seals, and the penguins would have their #1 natural predator on the run. Thus, the penguins would prosper, and pose a large threat to the Antartican colonies.

Food, water, and economic power?

As for the OP, global warming isn't going to completely melt the ice caps, IIRC.

1) Why is that more likely?

2) Why are penguins threatening?

1) Why is that more likely?
Because polar bears and seals are natural enemies.

2) Why are penguins threatening?

Because they attract vultures, and with more penguins, more vultures. If child or midget goes from A to B, there is a risk that they could be carried away.
