Community Patch - How To Install

I remember someone reporting it a couple of weeks ago and it started crashing my games during setup last week too.

But your comment made me wonder, if it was not caused by some other mods, so I ran a quick test without any other mods now and to my surpise it worked!!! I tried adding more mods then and found out that it seems to be the combination of CBP+Communitas map+Really Advanced Setup mod which causes the game to crash during setup. I apologize if I mislead anyone with my previous comment.

It is curious though, because this combination used to work for me with the pre-Christmas versions.

Will update my previous post ...

Nice to know I can still rely on the CEP-map for my map-pool. There really aren't enough good mapscripts out there.

Huh the above combination worked fine with me, I used the CBP+Communitas+Really Advanced Setup this morning and I had no problems. Now if I can just get the Communitas to load the Cocoa and Bison resources...

Hey, just wanted to say that my Madoka Magica: Wish for the World partial conversion mod is compatible with CP and CBP. It certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea, but I feel it's worth adding to the compatible mod list.

Really? For me it crashes to desktop almost immediately after I leave the Really Advanced Setup screen. When I start the game through the base in-game setup screen, everything is fine. Maybe it has to do something with my bad habit of not clearing the cache and ModUserdata very often. And, yeah the Cocoa and Bison would be nice.

Yeah, I play only with Communitas map, so I was sad when I thought it stopped working. I started a game with Continents+ then, but it just did not feel right.

I've been tweaking the Communitas Map Script for the past few days – I was going to wait, but I've posted it (as there was a sudden interest in the map, and I feel it is in good enough shape to share).

I have a question, this may be stupid, but ... I want to use the CP only for the AI changes, so no balance patch, no CSD mod, etc. So I download the Community Patch (v66.13.3) and the instructions on page 1 say I need to delete files in the "compatibility folder", but the only folder the remotely is called that is called "CSDC4DFCompatibility" and only has one file in it? Also it says I need to go to the LUA folder and then to "Inactive" and "Active" subfolders, but the LUA folders doesn't have any subfolders, only one file called ProductionPopup.lua ... is there something I'm missing completely?

Those instructions are for the CBP, not the CP – the CP has no compatibility issues like that.

I get a crash to desktop every time I run this. I cleared cache and modUserData - still no go.

Haalp

Edit: When I clear the cache and all the mods reload ingame (modlist), then Community Patch (v 66.13.5) is the only one that doesn't load - it doesn't even start. So now I can't even select it. If I delete the CP mod folder and copy it in again, then I can select it again... and it crashes again.

Do you have older versions somewhere?

Sounds like you may have two copies of the mod in your mods folder. Remove everything from your Mods folder and re-add the latest versions of the mod from scratch. Clear the cache, and then try it.

I got so far that it is loading now. My interface is all over the place now, and I did follow your "guide".

I got:
City-State Diplomacy Mod v26
Civ IV Diplomatic Features v10
Community Balance Patch v13
Community Patch v66
Events and Decisions v1
More Luxuries v155

I deleted the health and plague files from ModCompatibility folder.

Shouldn't that be it? Gotta say this installation process is harder than deity :S

Are you using EUI? If so, there are instructions about on how to use it with EUI.

It isn't that hard to install – you just download the mods, delete the files you don't need, and rearrange some LUA files based on what other mods you are using.

Not using EUI - would it help?

Edit: I used the patch + balance mod alone and that appeared to work. Gonna take 1 mod at a time to see what's going on...

Edit 2: Seems like it's the City-State Diplomacy Mod that is the problem... for me anyway.

You don't need EUI. Did you download the copy of CSD from the 'how to install' mod page? If so, you should be able to install that list of mods and play all civ without any changes to the files (aside from deleting the healthandplague file).

Make sure you cleared your cache, and that you are using the latest version of civ.

New versions of ALL mods posted. These include minimods that enable, overwrite and change lua for you AUTOMATICALLY. The only manual installation required at this point is if you are installing EUI. EUI compatibility files uploaded that make EUI fully compatible with the CP+CBP+CSD+C4DF combination. Please follow all instructions carefully!

I am impressed by the number of mods which were added (the so called mini mods). Do I have to pay attention to the load order of the mods? So is it important which mod is activated in which position.

EDIT:
Ok I found out I have to activate the mod in dependent on the already activated mods.. LOL YOU MADE MY DAY.

As you discovered, I configured the mods and the dependencies in a 'stairstep' fashion so that it is impossible to get the mod load order incorrect. This is how the LUA is able to function correctly as well, as only the 'last' LUA to load is the one that is shown in-game.

The unnescessary(I think) stacking of samenamed folders made the file un-extractable with winrar (Since it only supports 260 characters pathing), there are workaround but since I can't really see any point with the massive number of folders I'd suggest that you change it, if only to make it more userfriendly :D
Referring to the Megapack btw, if that wasn't obvious.
