Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread II

Depends on how fast your HDD is. USB 2.0's max speed is about 60MB/s, while USB 3.0 is should achieve at least 400MB/s.

Personally i hope Intel's Light Peak becomes a great success so we can get rid all these crappy standards (USB, (e)SATA, Firewire etc.) in favor of a vastly superior one.

eSATA is still faster than USB 3.

Looked up eSATA. I thought it was internal but apparently it's external.

Just realized that. I thought they just stuck the E there to show that it was different. OTOH, wouldn't that be like SATA 2.0?

I just noticed some dried liquid (milk i think) on the LCD. How do I get it off without scratching the LCD to hell? I did google it, it said if you spill anything to dry it immediately, but I never noticed it until it was already dried. [grumble] Since I'm very careful with liquids around computer (after ruining a few keyboards) I think my mom probably did it while she was in here cleaning my already-clean room. [/grumble]

Paper towels are abrasive but I don't want to use that. When I tried a dry microfiber cloth it didn't do anything. And I heard tap-water is bad for the screen, and the little bottle of LCD cleaner is empty.

EDIT: Google says to use distilled water. Where can I get some? I did try looking up how to make it but it had something about boiling it which I'm not allowed to do.

At what point is a RAM cooler or cooling fan beyond the heat spreaders the things are made with considered something you really should have? I'm adding RAM now, and there will be 4 gigs in 4 slots, without a great deal of room between them for air flow. It's not a high performance rig, nor is it pushed to max ability very often.

Get a microscope and a powerful laser and destroy the stain atom by atom

Where can I get a powerful laser? I went to a laboratory and told them why I needed it but they wouldn't allow me to borrow one. :mischief:

(I'm terribly sorry but I couldn't resist.)

Anyways, I did manage to find another bottle of LCD cleaner so the screen is now fine. Hooray!

You can get a gallon of the stuff at the grocery store for less than a dollar.

Not here. :(

Don't have water or don't have stores? I see you are in Canada so maybe its less than a beaver pelt or something.

I've never seen "distilled water" for sale. Only bottled water with extra vitamins.
