Computer Spec. Required

I wonder if it is optimized for Windows 10 (Direct X12) and if it will support 4K properly (without the 4K related issues of Civ5 and BE).

Moderator Action: Merged new computer spec required thread into the existing one

Since when could you play games on a Mac?
Since they moved to Intel and let you install Windows. ;)

Jokes aside, I have been on a Mac for a few years now, and the only game I own and cannot play on my MacBook is Skyrim.

I am glad they confirmed Civ 6 is coming to the Mac - that way I won't have to steal my wife's laptop for more than a few months. (I think they will need a few months to get the game ported since its based on a new engine.)

Does anyone know if the computer specs have been issued, if not, when will they likely be announced.
Could anyone make an educated estimate of what they might be?

From what I see in pictures and videos ,it will run great on an PC with quad-core(i5), 8 GB RAM , a decent video card and with Win7 installed.
Definitely it will be released on next-gen consoles, Mac and Android/Iphone for a huge sales.

The graphics is not like Total War who require pretentious PC.

That's nonsense.
It will get out for PC exclusively @launch. It supports multithreading and I assume they are aiming for midclass PCs being able to run it in a decent manner.
I'm quite sure they gonna port it to Mac a few weeks later, as they always did.
I'd be surprised to see it on PS or XBOX this year, MAYBE for the xmas-sales, but I doubt it.

Furthermore nothing official but "PC only at launch" has been stated. Otherwise I'd be interested in the source...

I don't know why more users are worried about PC specs.
That Civ 6 looks like a real-time strategy game from 2004-2006.
Pretty much everything in this post is wrong.

1. People are allowed to be worried, graphical quality (regardless of how good it actually is, in peoples' opinions) often doesn't have a direct correlation with performance.

2. Games varied immensely in art direction, fidelity and performance during 2004 and 2006. For an easy comparison, that was the difference between the release of the original Dawn of War (late 2004) and Relic's next new IP, Company of Heroes (late 2006).

3. Civilisation VI doesn't look anything like those games.

My sentiments exactly.

Not quite 2006, but Anno 1404 in 2009 certainly looks a lot more demanding than Civ VI:

Civ VIs art is very detailed, but also very minimalist at the same time. I don't see any reason for why it shouldn't - at least when it comes to the graphics - run on a tomato (did I just invent that metaphor?) with things like dynamic shadows turned off - other than really, really bad optimization obviously.

That screen is from Anno 1404: Venice, released in 2010. The original poster refers to 2004-06 games like:

And, of course, Civilization IV

I am no expert when it comes to hardware requirements, but Civilization VI seems like quite an upgrade over Civ V, released in 2010. I therefore expect it won't be able to run on a tomato, but rather require more advanced hardware than the last game.

Venice is DLC for Anno 1404 which was released in 2009. It shares exactly the same system requirements and it doesn't change anything about the looks of the game.

Yeah, and I referred to a 2009 game. ^^

lol, when I compared with RTS game from 2004-2006,I referred to AOE3 (2005) and yes, CoH (2006), who looks better than Civ 6.

From TBS perspective, graphics of this Civ 6 is specific of actual mobile games or TBS games from 2010-2012. Maybe, level design and models are better than Civ 5, but textures and details are very poor.

Edit: Ok, it makes no difference.

Sorry, you're right. I should've quoted Alex Khan's post, not yours.

Anyway, your point (correct me if I'm wrong) is Civ VI looks less demanding than Anno 1404: Venice released 6-7 years ago, and therefore it should run on any computer from that era. (I imagine that is the metaphor intended for "tomato")

The minimum requirements for Anno 1404 are:

Civilization V has higher minimum requirements than Anno 1040:

Again, I am no expert, but based on the little info released, day-night cycle, animations and screenshots, I do expect Civilization VI to have higher requirements than Civilization V.

If that is the case, and contrary to your statement, there are plenty of reasons to believe Civ VI won't be able to run on a tomato/old pc.

Has anyone tried to play civ5 on a dual core with only 2gb of ram and that poor of a gpu? It is downright terrible as I tried it for about a week before buying a new pc. Civ5 was the game that pushed me over the top to upgrade. So min requirements can be very deceptive.

Civ6 will probably not run that great on min, min will probably be something under performing like a gtx 550ti, core i3 and 4gb of ram when realistically you'll want something a lot better.
