From now one, Football will officially be called Football in Australia (used to be soccer) :goodjob: .

I hereby congratulate the people of Australia!

Now, if the Yanks could please follow this example!

Dangit! The "Footballers" surround us! REAL Football fans, UNITE! We shall beat back the British scourge and rename Soccer soccer and keep Football's name!

 Why would you change it though? It just makes it that much more confusing.

I think the USAF anounced about a month ago that they are now fully capible of jamming any satalite communication they feel should be jammed. Maybee we can start dubing all mention of the word "football" when used out of context and replace it with "soccer" or "rugby", depending on what the Euro anouncing the event really meant :D.

I coached from when she was 5 until last year when she was 13. Last year
she made the Middle School team of 7th and 8th graders. She was the only
7th grade girl to make the team (mixed team) and this year she was a team
captain, though there were only 4 girls on the entire team. I miss the coaching, mostly the telling them what to do part :mischief: . Right now she
is on the basketball team (all girls) and doing quite well (they are 7-1), but I
am a bundle of nerves in the stands and usually act very foolish at the games
carrying on  . I never played soccer as a youth but studied the game
very closely when I was coaching and grew to enjoy good matches :scan: .
nice.

you're not one of those ravenous soccer parents, are you? :mischief:

Yes, we need to do that! The Evil must be purged from the world and good put in it's place! Down with the Fo0t-soccer abomination! Soccer and Football separate shall live again! :p

i'd like to state that i have nothing against football (soccer) per se. it's just that i find it a tad boring; sorta likewatching the grass grow in my back yard.

however, soccer players are extraordinary atheletes and i'd love to go to a match in the UK or Ireland if i ever had the chance.

question to europeans:

knowing that you all like to drink beer as much as us yanks, do you guys party before games in the parking lots? this is a must for american football games (pro & college).

Traitors.

(Ten character limit.)

If you are american you should know! dah!

We just don't like it, its unexpainable why. Go Bears!

No one cares about soccer in the US, even women's basketball gets more attention.

I like Soccer, it just has to keep it's real name....

And I guess we're just addicted to the rush you get by fearlessly charging into masses of 350 pound linebackers trying their hardest to smash you head, and then getting past them and scoring. Silly Americans. :p

Why? What makes Soccer/Football unpopular in the US?

Not that exciting to watch. It's too simple. The best American athletes don't play it. And however dumb this sounds many people in the states consider it a girly sport as they do with softball.

So if there was a great football player from US maybe it would be more popular?

Probably not, we would just use him to say that we are still better than you, even in your own sport :p

Probably, hype and fanfare when it comes to Football/Soccer (as opposed to American Rugby/American Football or Baseball) has never happened here. Theres a new Soccer league which was created a few years ago(Our team is called the Revolution), but it doesn't have the Commericial backing that American Football or Baseball does.

Professional soccer probably won't get too far in the US, as it is, it is on par with professional lacrosse, which will probably overtake it soon because it involves hitting people with sticks.

soccer (football) and football (yank football) are nothing compared to...

HOCKEY! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH HOCKEY! YEAAAAAAH

GO HABS! GO FLAMES! go.... ah whats the use, stupid lock out, grah im gonna rip my eyes out! oh well i can still play rugby in the mud and hockey on the road.........
