where do I download it?
Do I get it thru Steam?
1. Neither $5 or $10 is enough to even bat an eye over. You spend that at McDonalds on something gone in 15 minutes. If you enjoy the game, you will pay the cash and not whine.
2. Those of you who bought from Direct2Drive. You probably did it because of your dislike (mostly unwarranted) of Steam. Well now you're not as special.
3. Mongols probably weren't ready, If they would have delayed game release for Mongols people would have whined more. So instead they delay Mongols and send them to war when they are ready. Makes perfect sense.
4. October 25th is not over yet, and the content is not yet available.
I had to register just to say something about all of you whiners.
Also my idea for the Mongol's would have been Punishment of God.
I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.
Genghis Khan
You realize that with only 10 DLC's, and probably it will be a lot more based on how early this one came, we could have bought Civilization V again (it costs $50, right?). On the other hand, pricing DLC's fairly would make them cost less than $0.01...
1) $5- $10 for a single DLC of 1 civ is outrageous, and I personally would go WTH. As for McD's, if I must absolutely go there ( because my youngest still likes there food for some strange reason) 1 chees burger, 1 small fry, and 1 small coke = $3 ( dollar menu). Guess what? he's fed, I didn't pay 5-10 bucks, and no body whined.
There is an old saying, which featured as a quote in civ4 no less, that goes:
Everything is worth what it's purchaser will pay for it.
Why do you think the price of a video game (or just about any entertainment good for that matter) decreases over time? (excluding when it's rare and actually starts increasing in value)
Is that fair on the people who paid for it at release? What is fair?
Perhaps 'fair' is letting the owner of the property sell it for whatever the heck they please. 'Fair' is then letting the potential customer decide for themselves whether they want to make the purchase. It all sounds pretty fair.
The point is, I can guarantee there would be a lot of lost revenue if they priced a civ at $0.01, simply because a large proportion of people are prepared to pay more. 2K and Firaxis are not charities, you know.![]()

Something that I don't think has been discussed:
Anyone know if they'll put out new Steam achievements for the Mongols?
Don't think it's out yet. Should be out sometime by the end of the day in Los Angeles.
3$? Good for you. But guess what? Those prices are not universal. For example for me to eat in a similar fast food place (not a fan of fries) would cost a minimum of 6e ( Euro menu). And nobody whined... So the point was? ...
Lol, isn't a difference of opinion a wonderfull thing?I understand that prices are not universal, and that they differ from varying regions. My point was that you do not have to be labeled a "whiner" if you have the opinion of disagreeing paying $5- $10for a single DLC. I should have made myself more clear. Apologies.
http://apolyton.net/content.php/162-Genghis-Khan-released-as-FREE-DLC-on-October-25th!
Yes that's true, 2K Games / Firaxis named you guys, the "civ fanatics" who are "very well organized" as the target to get the Mongols for free! Thanks for that ;-)
And I'm sure that I'm going to download it as well :-D
